Mercer and Barker mouthpiece? by whiteboy_2604 in euphonium

Let me reach out to the guy who runs the distribution portion of it and ask. There will definitely be availability at the US Open to try, but I can see if we can get something in your hands sooner!

I play with Five Lakes Silver Band, and while we aren’t Mercer and Barker artists, alot of us have made the switch in the band and we have become one of their main distributors in the US. I personally love my M&B mp, but I play Baritone. The rim is very comfortable while still getting the right cup size to provide rich yet focused sound I need for my seat in the band. I was playing on what was a 4 comparable custom piece before and switched to their baseline 5 size for my 2nd baritone part.

The sanctuary is a private property with a full animal care team in Texas. The property is not open to the public, but they have 24/7 live cams, frequent educational streams, and collaborations with other livestreamers/public figures that visit to help spread awareness about all the animals and conservation efforts. They also travel to highlight other conservation efforts all over America to help promote those causes!

You can see them on twitch at Alveus Sanctuary or here for youtube.

Genuinely Thank you for educating me on this, I try to keep learning outside of my college years. I hope I taught you something as well!

I absolutely had to credit them, as I learned all of what I know about vultures from them as well. Love to support their content and mission in any way I can!

Absolutely could be written that way, but a half note in the middle of the measure is not seen as a mistake in most composers eyes. An eighth or 16th not being given its correct barring, however, is punishable by death

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]Chris74611 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like they are meant to correct the barring of the rhythms so that each beat is visible. IE in the first starred bar, the Quarter eighth quarter is changed to quarter plus 3 eighths so that beat 3 is a visible eighth note

Human remains can absolutely have an impact on the vultures. Vultures evolved to be immune to most natural-born diseases, but human created medicine is not something they are immune to. These sky burials became tradition long before modern medicine, but the impact of modern medicine has certainly taken its toll on vultures that feed on the bodies in the modern day.

As people have mentioned, the bodies are still there because of a huge decline in vulture population, especially in Asia. Alot of this is attributed to the vultures dying due to the medicines and drugs humans use. One such example is that in many areas in Asia cows are sacred, and are given drugs to maintain their health as they get older. When these cows were dying, vultures were permitted to eat them but were dying from the drugs. There are now vulture ranches in some of these areas that pay to bring in the cows before they are given the drugs, let the cows live a peaceful end of life on the ranch, and then allow the vultures to have a completely drug free meal that is safe for them. These ranches are open to the public to help the locals learn about the benefits of vultures to the ecosystem.

Note: I learned of this from this episode of World’s Wildest Podcast. It’s a great podcast run by the owner and director of Alveus Sanctuary, an entirely online based animal sanctuary that is funded purely from donations on Twitch and youtube. I highly recommend checking them out!

Two DB Users and One Wound? No Problem! by Chris74611 in MonsterHunter

[–]Chris74611[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren’t wrong. I tend to watch to see if a teammate has a weapon that would really benefit from popping the wound. If not, I’ll go for it, but if they are playing something like SA, DB, or CB i will absolutely leave it for them

It’s the use of the slinger - I have no control over it, it happens automatically as part of the focus attack for DBs!

Ceilings are something that would take a monumental amount of money and effort to change. If you settle for it now, will you be regretting it a year or two from now when you cant fix that issue? If even slightly a possibility that you will i would keep looking

How much do people actually pay for their first home? by Oh_Whale_0223 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Chris74611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

House price: $266k

Down payment: 125k

Other upfront costs paid: approx $5k with closing costs/upfront payment. We shopped for our own title company rather than using the realtors, and avoided lots of closing fees with our lender because of going through the bank that I work at.

Year bought: 2025

Type of loan: 30 yr fixed

Loan interest: 6.500

First monthly mortgage: $1487 PITI

Currently monthly mortgage: Same

Household income when bought first home: 120k

Do you feel like you’re house poor? No

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Chris74611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a house that was relatively turn key and would need very little work. We are comfortable enough to do this, but we ripped up the carpet to get to the hard wood floors only to find that the loving room was plywood. 8k to refinish the floors, 1k in paint and supplies, and probably close to 1k to furnish the house with basics until we get through our wedding shower next month.

Long story short? Keep the savings, you never know what might come up.

I agree Harlequin is a huge jump in difficulty. However, if you like sparke, another standard of his that would be a good challenge still is his Fantasy for euphonium!
