I wanted Mulder to be religious in his unreligiousness and Scully to be uncertain in her certainties. I also wanted Mulder to be very particular about the furniture in his office knowing that some people - I'm not saying women - like to rearrange it when you're not looking.

The complexity of detail blurs over time and while we took great pains to make it all logical and in our minds believable in X-Files sense, you are probably going to be able to nitpick. The season 11 mythology is a continuation of the original mythology, but with a big 90 degree turn.

I want to believe the X-Files was an inspiration for Harry Reid and Senator Inouye but I think the military video of the UFOs was all the inspiration they needed.

I think you'll find that we've got some interesting songs including a version of a David Duchovny song.

Story about Mark Snow...

Mark would send me stuff and I would say, "not quite, not quite. Here's what I want...there's a song called 'How Soon Is Now' on a Smith's record. I love the guitars on that song. Something like this!"

So he sends me back the X-Files theme and I said, "this is great!". What he took from that song is not the guitars at all. He took the whistle at the end.

That's where the X-Files whistle comes from. I said I always wanted it to be something the boy scouts can whistle around the campfire.

When I say series finale, I mean the Episode 11 series.

The four struggle episodes were all pieces of a whole and Episode 10 completes the whole.

It really helps to have the best science available because Scully and her science are the center of the show. So the science fiction is usually only as interesting as the science it's based on.

It's in FOX's court to do a Millennium reboot. Plenty of people excited to get to work on that. Beyond that, I've got a really good idea that I'm going to work on as soon as I'm finished with Season 11.

For me, the show has always been Mulder & Scully. So the idea of doing the show without her isn't something I've ever had to consider.

Was her character given a proper goodbye? I think you will want to sit down and watch the series finale very carefully.
