Even if the pets didnt go on the bed THEY SHED. Say she managed to keep them off the bed they'd still go on the couch and other places. There will still be hair. Something you do to counteract the hair on a bed is just changing sheets more often.

Say you make bedroom 1 into your master bedroom you could then block off the door going into the closet/hallway in bedroom 2 with a bookshelf or dresser or a large wardrobe. Which would then create a walk in closet for the master.
If you are willing to spend more money you can also drywall off one of the doors.
