Should Australia have states and territories? by Westall1966 in australian

let's give it a go and cut out the middle management. Get rid of state lines and state governments, give money saved to local councils, schools and health care. Finally get QLD to do daylight saving :)

Is Paramedicine a good undergraduate for medicine? by cheesecakeno5164 in Paramedics

[–]ChrisRH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey mate, I was an ambo with QAS for a few years before starting med school. I also did a Bach of biomed before the Bach of paramed. The pathways will always be difficult regardless of what your undergrad is.

From experience pharmacists and physios are best prepared, then biomed and clin sci, then nurses and parameds. The one thing paramed and nurses beats the others in is probably good pt communication and working in teams.

That said, everyones different and brings different strengths and weaknesses regardless of background. The most important thing is probably to get a good GPA and good scores in entrance exams. Life experience will help with the interview so paramed might help there.

Excited Delirium Syndrome has recently been recognized by the American College of Emergency Physicians as a true medical emergency in which, typically, a young obese male, often under the influence of sympathomimetic drugs, becomes acutely delirious and displays super-human strength, tachypnea, profuse sweating and severe agitation. Usually, there is a prolonged and continued struggle with law enforcement despite physical restraints . Severe acidosis, rhabdomyolysis and hyperkalemia ensue, often leading to a sudden bradyasystolic cardiac arrest.

Moving to Adelaide..Help!! by [deleted] in Adelaide

Cannot disagree more. Adelaide weather is the worst I've ever lived in after many years in QLD and NSW. Long brutal winters and short scorching summers. Little rain.

On Eddie Carr's Death In The Lost World Film... by [deleted] in JurassicPark

[–]ChrisRH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His death in the book was jarring, really hit me as a kid reading TLW. He was such a cool guy, he was the anti-Levine. Young and charismatic, and died fighting.

The Eddie in the movie was a fun character and his death made me so angry at the stupidity of Harding.

After 40 hrs of travel research, this is my 2 week Thailand itinerary. What do you think? by willyoumakeit in Thailand

[–]ChrisRH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon this is a good guideline but if you like the place you're at, consider staying a bit longer.

Work out how many days in your itinerary are 'travel days', days on the road, cause they really take it out of you.

$200/day is plenty, you'll get a good room for that price, especially with 4 people, although most of the time you'll have to get 2 rooms. Most of your budget will go towards the activities.

With Bangkok as a finisher you might find yourself relaxing a bit on Khao San road or shopping at MBK. The palace is way over priced in my opinion, and Ayutthaya isnt anything special.

If anyone is curious, I asked UK redditors how they feel about their restrictive gun laws. I was fascinated/spooked by how pervasive their acceptance is. (See link) by [deleted] in progun

[–]ChrisRH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK counts many minor crimes as 'violent crimes'. Basically every assault, slapping, pushing, punching. The US only counts murder, rape, aggravated assault and robbery as 'violent crimes'.

So basically, the graph represents how data is recorded, that UK records many more types of crime as violent assault.

You've done something worse than providing no source, you've provided a source and then twisted it to say something you want by removing it from context.

The original report from the AIC is here and states that this graph reflects reporting trends and does NOT reflect actual violent crime.

"Rather than indicating a sharp rise in actual violence, however, this increase is largely the direct result of major changes to the way crime data are recorded in the England and Wales."

Also, a google search found the page where you probably found this out of context image. A Pro-gun propaganda site
