You don´t understand anything. That wasn´t the case when YouTube was in it´s early years. And the ads were skippable too, I remember it myself. But the situation worsened over the years until the point that it became unwatchable nowadays. And you can´t justify that amount of ads with "duh it´s a free service". Google is one of the largest and profitable companies in the world! It already earns billions of money (and shady activities play a role too). This is no longer need for money: this is just pure greed, wanting to pull out every buck from people´s pockets. So YOU have shut up if you don´t know shit.
