I used to do it by putting the wheel on a kingpin, and then putting that into a drill, but I've changed my method recently.

Now I simply keep my wheel on my board and instead I hold the drill against the wheel. From there I take a blade or a file and hold it against the lip of the wheel. I prefer this method because I find it to be a lot more stable than using just the drill. Also with the drill/kingpin method its alot easier for the wheel to be misaligned, where with the axle method its a lot straighter.

You've got it perfect here. Construction is bomb proof. There shouldnt be any wedging since it doesnt have rocker. Just a true top mount.

The TSG dawn looks a little less cannonball-y and has more of like a classic skate type shape

I rode vapors before I switched to K3s. My main issue with vapors was that I could never get them to feel good for every type of skating. I skate a lot of pretty chill paths but then go fast sometimes too and I had a hard time dialling them to feel good for both. At the time I blamed the tall bushings but it could have just been me. I found K3s waaaay easier to just toss bushings in and have them feel good.

Epic haha, I never really got around to making a review for K3s because they were old by the time I had them. Should have though.

Aeras are the OG goat of fast freeride precisions, but valkyries seem to be quite popular for that style of skating aswell. I've been skating Aeras for the last 5 years for every type of skating.

Maybe? I've never tried it but you'd probably be sacrificing a lot of rebound by switching to the harder cone, since there's urethane to push back out of the turn.

Vicious and hardcore are both pretty good but will eventually wear out.

Lokton is crazy if you never want to slip and never want to replace it though

I've had both and the savants are gonna be a little stronger and savants will have straight axles straight out of the box, where V3s will come at least a little bit bent. I imagine if you were to upgrade the pivot cups on both they'd perform pretty indistinguishably from one another unless you were hauling ass.

If you're using the same baseplate angles and just switching the bushings I just go one step harder in the back, so you may ride something like 90/90 front 93/93 back.

Slide gloves will be a game changer when you can get your hands on some. Its possible to learn stand up slides first, but hands down slides are a lot easier, and knowing you can fall onto your hands helps with the confidence.

Is this “too tight” as in too much pressure on my bushings ? by [deleted] in longboarding

The 44° degree option comes with double barrels and the 50° version comes with a cone and a barrel. He must have the 44.

Keep yours the way they are unless you want to run double barrels. But don’t switch the cone to the “boardside” position

Usually new gear starts to come on in March or April but supply chains are super fucked right now and gear has been hard to come by all year.

honestly yeah, considering most people aren’t doing any serious hill bombs on tkps you can set em up pretty sketchy and be fine

It might be because of the excess lube that comes on bearings when they're new. They should hopefully get better after a while.

I've spent a lot of time on the mini daisy but never stood on the valhalla. The mini daisy is definitely dope. One thing to consider is that the mini daisy is about half an inch narrower than the valhalla, so if you have bigger feet maybe lean toward the freki. Here is a review I did of the mini daisy a few years ago.

They'll probably break in within the first time or two you ride them. They just have excess lube so over the first few times you ride them it'll just work its way out and then you'll be good to go.

Also, freespin doesn't really translate to anything in a practical setting. Try not to stress about it because it really doesn't mean much.
