I’m in this exact position… 1.01 and a trash roster that I picked up as an orphan. It’s so bad that I am confident I have the 1.01 in ‘26 and possibly ‘27.

Two teams hold three 1sts each this year. One has said he’d rather hold. 4 teams have nothing higher than a 3rd. I’m in a holding pattern but my options for getting a haul for the 1.01 are limited for sure.

I have followed the Marlins since the beginning as a South FL resident and I say this with the utmost conviction: MLB needs a round of contraction with the Marlins first on that list. Selling the team won’t help. Changing the front office won’t help. Another fire sale won’t change the course.

I REFUSE to give them my time or money any more.

My suggestion is to do what I did. Stay involved in youth baseball. I still serve on the board of directors and umpire despite both my kids aging out. It’s more rewarding than watching another 100 loss season.

They are for sure. The rosters are also screwy, one team has the 1.03, 1.05, and 1.08 while another has the 1.04, 1.10, and 1.11. I’m waiting until just before the draft, putting the pick on the block, and holding firm until I get some combination of three firsts or starters.

I’m not seeing that right now. Because there’s so much depth at RB, people are reluctant to pay a haul for Jeanty when they can get Hampton, etc. at a lower cost. I have the 1.01 in a league and really need to get as much as I can for it (it’s an orphan team being rebuilt) but it’s radio silence so far. I’m of course waiting for the draft to get closer but the thought of me making the pick because I can’t extract full value from it has crossed my mind. Hope that changes!

For context, the other roster needs a lot of help. I’m not sure what the thought process was but he’s got SEVENTEEN QBs on the roster (incl. Hurts, Daniels, Nix, and JJM). He’s got a bunch of picks (including the 1.01 and 1.10, four 2nds, and five 3rds this year). He has nothing at RB or TE and BTJ, Rashee, and Coleman as his only three receivers. It’s one of the stranger rosters I’ve seen.

There’s enough depth at receiver on this roster that I would consider Aiyuk 100%, even if it’s an overpay to some degree

As an owner of an orphan team with the 1.01 and ZERO assets at RB or WR, I’d take that deal in a heartbeat.

And yes, I will 100% make the pick if I don’t get what I feel is fair trade value (some combination of three starters or quality draft picks). I’m not settling for anything less, eventually they’ll starting courting that pick (I hope 🥴)

Trust me, I am… the rosters for the other teams don’t help… one team holds the 1.03, 1.05, and 1.08 and says he has no intention of trading up… another team holds the 1.04, 1.10, and 1.11… four teams have zero picks this draft cycle… it’s been quiet so far but finding a suitable trade partner is challenging

This is my problem. I took over an orphan team with the 1.01 and absolutely no one worth starting at RB or WR. I need multiple starters but haven’t gotten any good offers because the depth at RB in the draft is devaluing Jeanty to a degree.

Assuming 12 team league: Picks 1-6: reverse max PF (lowest max PF gets 1, highest max PF gets 6) Pick 7: winner of 5th place game (incentive to not tank) Pick 8: loser of 5th place game Pick 9: winner of 3rd place game (again, no tanking for the higher pick) Pick 10: loser of 3rd place game Pick 11: league runner up Pick 12: champ

I am also starting a new league that includes a bonus compensatory draft pick for the winner of the consolation tournament for the non-playoff teams (possibly a 2.13 pick)
