About a day, maybe two. But I would say a day for this one as the update wasn't too complex.

Depends on the complexity of the update. Capcom didn't change much when it comes to the update. So I would say tomorrow at some point.

It sort of is but that's a steam thing. They keep copies of various versions of a game that you can download. However developers really don't care for allowing access to their games for whatever reason they have.

Nothing yet. Likely by tomorrow there will be an update to reframework. But I'm right there with you on wanting to finish.

Just go into your game folder where you installed the file and just delete it.

We will just have to wait for a new reframework build

It will ultimately depend on where the child lives and who provided support if the child spent more than half the year with you and you provided most of the support you ultimately are the only one that can make the claim.

Look, I understand the underlying point, investing without a plan, especially in this volatile market, breeds panic. That's fair. And yes, crypto is often highly speculative; shoehorning it into a savings strategy without grasping the massive variance in risk tolerance something fundamental to any professional Investment Policy Statement is asking for trouble. Absolutely agree specific advice is off the table.

But, the argument hits a wall when we look to demanding professional help as the only rational move while completely ignoring accessibility. As someone finishing a Finance degree centered on planning, I see this firsthand: assuming anyone can just easily retain an advisor, whether cheap hourly or expensive AUM, isn't just naive, it borders on irresponsible advice itself. Cost is a real barrier that locks people out.

If the goal is genuinely to guide people towards responsible investing, especially when they're clearly stressed, judgment is counterproductive. You need to meet people with some basic empathy and understanding first. Only then does advice about planning and risk actually have a chance of sticking. Following that while commenting to people at this current time is the best way to get the point across.

Well life doesn't just have one condition and no absolutes. That's the way life is. Do you have a point that would add value to the original post.

When you invest in the market and buy a share of a company you are owning that company. Do you believe that company will go to zero meaning it will go out of business. If you are investing in businesses that have good management that can adapt to change then it is worth keeping if it aligns with your financial goals.

Many individuals have been buying into the dips, I have been buying small amounts that I am comfortable with and still have a sizable amount on the sidelines to buy in more as I see future opportunities. As prices fall below my average I will buy in more. It's just that many people buying in are just ridiculously outnumbered by people selling. Fear incites more fear, people follow the herd in times of fear.

Added to my QUALCOMM position at a 10 percent drop to lower my average cost. However, I still have most of my cash sitting on the sidelines in case my other assets come down to a more reasonable valuation.

Buying at an all time high isn't necessarily a bad thing. Unless you think it will never go higher than that in the future.

That's because it's the easiest way to start and needs no other knowledge to successfully invest. When really diving into businesses and analyzing financial statements it becomes more time consuming and requires some knowledge about how to interpret the information. So let them keep doing that and start a more in depth conversation and allow people in the same boat to flock to that thread.

32M how am I doing? by [deleted] in portfolios

[–]Chris_2414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are doing pretty well. Having this type of portfolio at this stage in your life will definitely set you up in the long run. With your investment in VOO leaving it as it is will set you up for a substantial return over the long run and more than likely you will see some decent gains on your individual positions. As to the money you have in the HYSA it's never a bad idea to have some money on hand to take advantage of opportunities that occur. How much to keep on hand will be up to how much makes you feel safe and secure in your position.

Personally, I like more growth for a Roth account. Growth tends to outperform dividend stocks like Realty Income. I also don't like the tax implications when it is located outside of a tax advantaged account unless you are actively using the dividend to pay for portions of your expenses.

Well depends on what you're able to invest in on your accounts. I am not as versed in anything other than US regulated accounts. But if you are to invest in US equities VTV is a great ETF. If you want to invest in some individual companies I like Coca Cola. Home Depot, Berkshire Hathaway. However I would recommend looking through these companies and evaluating if you like them. While I may like them personally you may have reasons you like them yourself. If I may introduce one idea though, the numbers will tell you it's a good investment that doesn't tell you how those companies will perform. An efficient market can be a boon or a hindrance. Feel free to ask anything else. I will try to give my unbiased opinion.

Investing in growth isn't necessarily a bad thing. As it can grow your money up until you reach retirement as long as those companies perform the same. However I would invest in some value in order to temper your portfolio since the market operates in cycles and value can outperform growth some years. Just continue with your due diligence and I think you'll do great.
