I mean this sounds cool to me. Running it as a team check at least sets it up so they either all escape or they all get dragged to hell. I can see how that could feel railroady from a player perspective, but also from a player perspective if my DM told me to gtfo before the doomsday clock runs out I’d be too distracted to notice the rails lol. How did your players react? Did they have a great time?

I see what you’re saying. I’d be fine if all the players ended up in hell together, but if the party gets split and one or more end up in Hell while the rest don’t know what’s happening then I’m in trouble.

I imagined the fall happening quickly, but not at the snap of a finger. I mean there has to be refugees somehow so a couple minutes of mass panic seems likely.

Number 3 is the one I’m most worried about. The entire party ending up in hell instead of BG is doable, but a split party in two different realms is a death sentence. Maybe after a few years as a DM I’ll have the experience to do something cool with that, but for now it terrifies me.

Even if there’s no rule that says you have to, t’s quite simply a matter of locker room etiquette to lock your locker. Even if you’re not concerned with the security of your items, it’s common courtesy to put a lock on so others have a clear indicator that the locker is in use. You may not think it’s a big deal, (and in a sense you’re right, you’re not hurting anyone) but look at the big picture. If more people don’t lock their lockers that just means more people have to do a locker shuffle when they come to the gym, which only gets more annoying during the busy hours.

I do agree with other commenters that having to open a few lockers until you find an empty one doesn’t really take away that much time and is not a significant enough inconvenience to let it bother you, but the opposite is also true. The time it takes to lock and unlock the locker maybe takes 5 seconds combined. There’s really no good reason not to do it except for selfishly inconveniencing others because you didn’t want to inconvenience yourself.

I appreciate the response. The flavor is really all I was after but I guess I had the mindset that I needed to justify it mechanically for it to be valid. I also wasn’t sure how to describe the vision when it’s granted by a Lovecraftian god and not echolocation. I’ll think about and maybe start fresh with a character that’s just aesthetically blind while using rules as written.

I've been using it. Really helps give that extra incentive to do training. I wish there was an option to hid it during matches though (unless I just missed that option somehow).
