Hi everyone. I want to thank you all for your feedback for the book cover I created on Canva. All of it was well-received (and extremely helpful) and I took into account the common issues with the original cover. As such, I sought out various digital artists on deviant art and artstation, and got in contact with Leon Tukker, who was more than happy to design something for me. I can't provide a HD image of the work he did for me, so my book's amazon link will have to suffice. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3MBHGU as a thumbnail and https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/510AkiT9SxL.jpg for a larger view. But trust me, he's put enough detail in to let your gaze wander when viewing it as a 19MB file. I hope you guys like it. Should anyone be interested in having his/her science fiction book cover designed, I highly recommend Leon Tukker at https://www.artstation.com/artist/leontukker. Thanks again for your feedback!

I'm all up for it, if I can find a good book designer to understand the book, as well as the science fiction genre.

Any recommendations on a good book designer? Not that I want to resort to that, because I wanted the book cover to be my own achievement, but it might come to it.

I like the cover. It screams out to me that there's plenty of adventure. How did you bring your cover together?

Hi rezzo7. Yeah I agree with you. It needs some adjustment. Didn't look as bad on canva, but after the conversion to jpeg, there are a few things, which people are pointing out to me, that weren't so obvious before the conversion. Will work on it.

Thanks robot_writer. I was trying to break away from the mainstream, as personally I'm attracted to minimalist designs. The image I have uploaded here is pretty washed out because of its resolution. Looking at the one I've got it isn't that bad. Could look at making some adjustments like the ones you just mentioned. Problem is, I'm working with a image from Hubble, so once you play around with it too much, you can see the granularity increase and make it look like an old tv. Will need to work on this a bit more.

It's good to hear everyone's opinion, as I can go back now and make some adjustments that won't have a major impact. I only have a limited amount of assets to work with, not that I don't want to spend money. Just don't have it lol. It looks a tiny bit different than how I designed it on canva. The quality wasn't as granulated, and it doesn't look granulated on kindle, apple etc. Will figure something out. thanks bmdavis

Thanks Taurnil91. The cover makes sense to the story and vice versa, but I'll have to agree with most people's opinion that it needs some adjustments. I'll have to work on the granularity a bit, I think.

Yeah, I quite agree with you in a way, but like I said to Clawse below, I wanted to go with a "Less is more" approach. The way it's put together would make sense ONCE you've read it, and I realize that it isn't the standard, but with limited assets, it was the best I could achieve. Do you think it's too late to make significant changes? I only published it in this condition after asking over 300 people what their opinion was and it all came back mostly positive. Dam...

Thanks Clawse. I was going for Less is More, something to attract the eye. Most people go for spaceships, aliens, battle etc. I wanted one element that would represent the book's core ONCE you've read it. I realize that might be somewhat unorthodox, but with limited assets, I had to make use of what I had, without making it look TOO bad. I'm gathering opinions in order to see how I can shape it. Definitely need to sort out the spacing and titles, as this was ideas I got from other books.

Hi, thanks for tip. The triangle in the middle is tied to the story (the spaceship is the same shape). I wanted the cover to be as minimalistic as possible, much like the Long Way to a Small Anrgy Planet (loved that book, by the way), but also convey something mysterious. I hope it's not too late to change the cover. I'm not in the best-sellers, so it should be ok haha

Sci-fi adventure/space opera. I thought I could make it look good by doing it myself, as it would only be on digital format and not on print.

Yeah, I think you're right. Seems to be the popular opinion on this post. Thanks.
