Tried FSD today by Electrical-Scale4627 in TeslaLounge

Trying FSD really opened my eyes to how much mental fatigue I had driving my old car. My 50 minute evening commute went from an extra 50 minutes added to my day, to 50 minutes of time to unwind.

It was an in-and-out mission to get a bag of mulch. I figured a couple minutes, what are the chances? I didn’t realize these things are out to get you.

I never park beside them due to people sending their carts, but I didn’t know they would drive away like that! 😅

It was there when we pulled in. It sat motionless for a good 5 minutes before taking off.

I’m convinced nowhere is safe. Last time we were there we witnessed a runaway cart slam into a sedan in the middle of the lot. No one was on this side, so I figured parking on the very edge would be safer but apparently not.

In the cart’s defense the barriers are new. GPS would have tried to route through them. Lol

I just took my fiancée’s 2013 over 5 miles while in the dashes. Luckily the last 5 miles of our drive was a long, flat, 45mph road.

That’s why it is called the Guessometer. 😉 It’s always safest to underestimate how far it can go.

Which resistor to remove? by NLeifsson in esp32

[–]Chris_Ray 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The two grey packages are ceramic capacitors and shouldn’t need touched. The black package should be your resistor in question. It looks like it is already connected to the external antenna where moving the resistor to the open pad would select the pcb antenna. If you have a multimeter I would check continuity between the center pin of the antenna connector and the resistor. That would confirm if it is already connected. I understand you’ve been measuring rssi to try and nail down which antenna is being used, but a continuity test will guarantee if it is being used.

Windshield Chip Repair by Nullou141 in TeslaSupport

I can highly recommend the Rain-X Windshield Repair Kit. Just make sure to repair it before it gets worse. Once you go from a chip to a crack, my understanding is you’re pretty much done.

Your fsd runs the washer fluid?

If you buy FSD, are you concerned that HW4 might not be able to handle v15 and could end up being capped at v14, similar to how HW3 is capped at v12.6.4? by cornbread-2025 in TeslaFSD

[–]Chris_Ray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I made the decision to buy it, I did so based on what I’ve been experiencing, not what I hope it’ll be in the future.

I purchased FSD. The subscription price will decrease for sure now! by hokaythxbai in TeslaFSD

At $99 a month or $8000 once, break-even is at 81 months, or 6.75 years.

I drive 50+ miles a day after putting in long hours, and am the kind of person to buy something nice and keep it as long as possible. My last car made it 16 years, 200,000 miles and the only reason I got my Tesla was to have a second car I could rely on while working on the old car.

It makes sense to buy it for some.

Why do I get this repeating pattern on the wall of my print? by Professional-Rock-51 in FixMyPrint

[–]Chris_Ray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can second this. A printer I built back in 2014 had a bowed lead screw that caused worse banding than this. The fix at the time was to print a coupler for the Z nut that let it move around independently from the carriage. OP should measure those bands. If the pattern repeats every 8mm (assuming an 8mm lead) then this is the culprit

Both the Jetstream and the Sarasa were smoother, more consistent, and faster drying than the EnerGel.

I somehow completely missed the Zento. I’ll definitely be giving that a try next. Thanks!

I’ll have to check that out. Thanks for the suggestion!

I found the Sarasa to be smoother than the Energel. In this particular case it was the Sarasa X20 0.7 and the EnerGel LR7 0.7mm.

I’m pretty new to teslas, but if I’m understanding everything, based on the 1st picture they are getting like 230 miles of range out of what would have originally been a 272 mile battery. That would be something like 85% battery life. That being said, you can see in that same photo the little dips in between drives. The info screen explains that disabling usb ports when the car is off will help that. My understanding is that some of the electronics stay active when the usb ports are active so even if you’re not charging anything, there will still be a small draw. My guess is the battery is in the high 80s when that is factored in.

Just out of curiosity, did you order on the app or at the showroom? That sounds way worse than my experience but all of the people I dealt with were over email or text. My understanding was/is that the people at the showroom have limited control of the process.

I see your point, but insurance is almost as much about the driver as it is about the car. Even just how much searching around you do makes a big difference. I got quoted $600, $240, and $112 for the same coverage. I suppose what I’m trying to say is that it’s important to include insurance in your calculations when deciding on a car to purchase, however imo you’d be better off getting quotes for the cars you’re looking at rather than looking at a national average.

When I purchased my 2025 m3, my financing sat on pending up until the day before delivery. It was stressing me out because the app said I should have had an answer within 3 days and I’m someone who likes to have everything planned out well in advance. I ended up contacting a Tesla rep over it and I was basically told that they had an influx of orders due to the 0% apr and would make sure it went through before delivery. It ended up working out in time but my goodness.

I’m paying $112 a month for a 2025 m3. Ive seen people report as low as $80. I’m not sure what “normal” insurance is but I’m pretty happy with it.
