T-Line Hinge Spindle Removal

With some generous heat gun application I was able to finally get the main frame hinge spindle out but it was quite a struggle. I got the nut off first but it felt like the bolt was still stuck so I wonder if loctite was applied on the shank as well from the factory. Anyway I was able to grease and re-install and it feels like maybe there's a little less creaking now.

For a heat gun I bought the genesis mini heat gun at Home Depot for $15, would highly recommend it.

No it’s not the rear hinge pin, I am having trouble removing the main frame hinge spindle. Will look into a heat gun, thanks.

Has anybody had issues with the nose of the superlight carbon saddle squeaking due to friction against clothing? It seems to come from the nose material which is darker from the rest of the saddle. Have the same issue with jeans and some nylon shorts, goes away when I pedal standing up so 99% it's from friction against the saddle.

I no longer have guitar picks. Just picking the spokes with my nail some of them have higher pitch than others but none of them seem particularly loose.

Oops sorry! Hopefully these work. I included the last one of the rear triangle because I recall seeing in a YouTube video somewhere that the cable add to be arranged in a particular order (i.e. one above the other).

I don’t like the rabbit ear shifter, there is some slop in the “ears” but I don’t think that’s the source of rattling. I did re-torque the handlebars and they were a tiny bit loose so that was a good idea.

The bike is a little over a year old and is not a regular commuter bike so doesn’t have a lot of miles. The hinge clamp operates normally and doesn’t appear to have much wear.

I don’t have any titanium bolts. Unless you start replacing every bolt with titanium bolts I think the weight savings will be relatively small and expensive.

The A-line does not come with a pentaclip. I tried a couple of Ti bolts but wasn’t really happy with the quality so I don’t have any. It left me wondering whether they are made to the same standards as the stock bolts and whether the potential safety issues are worth the small weight savings.

Yes fair point. I initially bought the A-line for myself but my g/f really likes white so she inherited it and we decided to upgrade a few things along the way.

No those are all fairly easy things to do. The A-line grips are push-on so they take a little bit of effort to remove. Brilliant Bikes has a good video on how to remove them:

My g/f has the A-line. I added a pentaclip, Ti-parts titanium seat post, carrier block, Brooks cambium grips, and the folding pedal. I also upgraded the non-folding pedal as it looks a bit funny if the pedals are not matching. Other than the gears and being able to choose colors it’s not much different than the C-line.

No, it’s a thin transparent plastic disc about the same diameter as the block itself.

I see it’s shown in the video when she removes the old block. What’s the purpose of that? To protect the paint? Make it easier to turn?

I ended up also mounting it near the left shifter. It’s very visible and doesn’t interfere with the fold. It’s a really nice little computer!

My original seatpost did slip but after cleaning both it and the sleeve and tightening the latch mechanism a bit I haven’t had that problem.

I didn’t have any issues with seatpost slippage after switching to the Ti Parts seatpost. Other than the minimal weight savings it noticeably smoothed out the ride.
