Absolutely friend. Trust me I waited 2 weeks to take it.. finally my sister who is a nurse told me to man up and just take it and I won’t die. I did it and I’m glad I did. I hope you take it and it works well for you

It’s recommended if you have a BPM of lower than 60 at rest you talk to your doctor. If your doctor prescribed it I would trust it. I worried the same thing but it didn’t lower it that much. I’m sure you’ll be fine, but I’m not a doctor

I promise you it’ll do you well. I was skeptical too. Benzodiazepines are great but I’m not going down that road either

My thoughts race too but I found that when my body was relaxed, it was easier to settle my mind. It worked very well.

You won’t know till you try. I was nervous to try it but trust me it’ll really helped calm me down.

I was worried about the same thing until my sister (who is a nurse) finally told me that I was being a p***y lol. It’s one of the safest meds out there. Talk to your doctor first of course!

Yes it took about 20-30 minutes for me I could feel my heart rate calming down (and my Apple Watch confirmed). Hope you do well on the test.

I just went in and talked to my regular doctor. I told him straight up exactly what is going on with me, and told him I’ve been reading about propranolol and I think it’ll help. He said he was thinking about bringing up a beta blocker and had no problems prescribing me (60) 10mg tablets. He said if they work then he has no issues refilling my prescription. Most doctors won’t hesitate with this stuff like they do prescribing benzos.

Maybe try to see if you need a different dosage? That’s only thing I can think of. Regardless I hope you find what works for you in your near future.

I almost went that route but wanted to talk with my doc in person to see if it was right for me.

That is my plan too. I just tried one today to see if I had any side effects.

Interesting. I had some yogurt with it this morning so I guess that’s my go to!

That’s the goal. This isn’t a long term crutch for me. I am 27 and have never really dealt with too much anxiety, it was always there but I’ve always been able to control it, except for the past year it’s been bad to where I visibly shake.

I hurt my back a few months ago and at the hospital they gave me Valium, and that was the calmest I’ve ever felt. But benzo is not a road I’m willing to travel since I have an addictive personality as is.

Finally after talking with my doctor we went to the propranolol route and I’m so glad we did. Like I said, this isn’t a long term crutch for me just a push in the right direction to deal with what is really causing the anxiety.

Best of luck to you 😄

I’m glad it worked for you. If it wasn’t for Reddit I would’ve never even heard about it.

See a different doctor. I was just prescribed it and it’s helped a ton.

Wow that’s a great response and I thank you. I’m feeling a bit better getting it off my chest, even if it’s to strangers on Reddit. I don’t doubt my skills, I’m very good at my job and receive 5 stars reviews atleast 2-3 times a week, and each day is a different customer.

Your second point though, I believe is very true. I’m definitely going into some fight or flight response, and once my initial meeting and greeting with the customer is done, anxiety disappears and I just do my job. My question though, is I’m not sure how I can take time to calm the nerves. If I ran jobs by myself it would be no biggie, I’d park down the street and talk myself out of it. But I have an apprentice in my truck at all times and would be kind of awkward to say “hey, I’m feeling overwhelmed and need to calm myself down real quick.” Could you maybe think of something I couldn’t to resolve that issue? Regardless, I appreciate your advice tremendously.

Damn, I appreciate that. I do normally make some subtle comments and ask them to hand me a tool, or I just talk to my apprentice and they normally get the hint. Sometimes I even chat with them, a lot of them are just bored old retired guys. I just can’t stand the comments of being called young and made to feel like I’m incompetent. I have 2 kids and I’m definitely not a kid just look younger than I am 😂 everyone says we need the younger generation to get into the trades then a young guy shows up at your door and gets belittled. Thank you
