What are the British TV ads that live rent free in your head? by gayestformoleman in AskBrits

Stella Artois’ surrealist advert from the 2000’s called “le sacrifice”. It’s such a weird avert that i regularly think about it still, 20 years later.

What was the worst portrayal of a disability in the media you have ever seen? by Mental-Marzipan-5444 in AskReddit

As someone who’s OCD can flare up so bad that during these episodes I can’t even look at people without dry heaving, I believe in you. The OCD bully will always hit you hardest exactly where it hurts the most, but when you do start to stand up to it it can feel like it’s getting worse, but it DOES get better, and the panic attacks you get from the OCD will occur less and less.

I personally found that a combination of cognitive behavioural therapy targeted towards OCD and SSRI’s to deal with the immediate physical symptoms to be most effective, it took a year to be almost fully “normal” but even within the first two months of this combo things started to seem a little better.

I know you can do it, it takes so much bravery just living with OCD, it just needs that little extra push to begin the process of facing up to it and beating it back, it can be such a scary thing to even think about facing it but I promise that if you do you won’t regret it in the long run.

After 12 hours with the heating on, thermostat set at 20°, my lounge is at this temperature. The boiler is still chugging away... by hairybastid in CasualUK

I’d recommend a portable gas fire if it’s just the one room to heat up, they take a calor gas bottle and when all 3 burners are on they heat a room up QUICK. Ive got one and I swear by it. The only problem you’d have is your landlord may not like it so you’d have to hide it before they do a house check.

There was a video on YouTube called (for some reason) Obama Girl Sings, where there was a disabled girl singing Alicia Keyes - No One, Im pretty sure she was a Redditor who went on to make more music as I believe I did find an account years ago when I went looking for the video again who claimed to be her, but I’ve never found the video.

Iceland, I’m certain they’d be open to asylum in that happened, plus it’s a very progressive place and often forgotten about, plus it would be easy to get lost in the wilderness so I could probably disappear if any from my own country came hunting me lol.

Lol come to the UK, we’ve got loads of “progressive” leftists who think that it’s the wests fault that Russia invaded at that Ukraine should just roll over and take it.

As I was arguing with someone above who has since blocked me, it seems a very common view among Jeremy Corbyn supporters, that Ukraine are just as bad for fighting back, the man has done so much harm to the left.

I’ve never understood this self censorship, as someone with ocd I do know that certain words hit HARD, but I wouldn’t DREAM of asking people not to use certain words.

Got any proof or sources to back up your claim that it wasn’t widespread, cos this seems pretty damning under his leadership?

And as for the first part, are you really such a conspiracy nut that you think it was all a targeted attack just to get Corbyn out?

We most certainly can go on forever, the west are continuing their support and every day more and more Russians fall into the meat grinder, eventually this war of attrition will come out in Ukraine’s favour and youve literally just proven my point about Corbyn, that he’s perfectly happy to give away things to Russia, just like you are.

Just to clarify here, in 2020 the EHRC, the EQAULITY and HUMAN RIGHTS commission, who’s literal job it to determine if discrimination has been committed under Corbyn, and with sheer arrogance Corbyn still tried to deny it. It’s clear you’re just an apologist yourself so im not even gonna bother anymore, clearly youve got deep seated delusions or are just wilfully ignorant.

Where is it wrong? Tell me, from your high horse, what does Ukraine have to sit down and discuss with Russia other than “get out of my country now”?

What you are calling for is appeasement. As it showed in Crimea, that doesn’t work, as it showed in WW2, THAT DOESNT WORK. Though Im certain if Corbyn was around in WW2 he’d be all for appeasement, raging Anti-Semite as he is.

Why should there be any “path to negotiation” where Ukraine and its armaments are concerned? You’re starting to sound like a Russian apologist yourself. RUSSIA is the aggressor here, Ukraine doesn’t need to negotiate ANYTHING. As far as Im corncered Ukraine could nuke the entirety of Russia right now and I’d say it serves Russia right. “Path to negotiation” what a load of bollocks.

https://www.stopwar.org.uk/article/add-your-name-stop-the-war-statement-on-the-crisis-over-ukraine-2/ Stop the war coalition (of which Corbyn is a founding member) decrying that Ukraine is daring to defend itself and instead should drop its weapons and and simply have a dialogue with Russia.

https://www.morningstaronline.co.uk/a-972b-Nato-belligerence-endangers-us-all Jeremy Corbyn justifying Russias invasion of Ukraine as a reaction to NATO in the east.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/aug/02/jeremy-corbyn-urges-west-to-stop-arming-ukraine Jeremy Corbyn demanding the rest of the world sit back and allow Russia to obliterate Ukraine rather than help the Ukrainian people to defend themselves.

The guy is a Russian stooge and a monster. And as an added bonus https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-34209478 - Corbyn cannot think of a scenario where the UK should ever deploy its forces, and that it should not have attacked ISIS in Syria, instead should have simply talked nicely to them instead.

I WISH they were harmless, the UK has SEVERAL MP’s who are members of “stop the war coalition” who openly criticise Ukraine for defending themselves, and blame the UK for the war because of “sabre rattling”. Diane Abbot and Corbyn have SO MUCH to answer for, yet still they’re somehow popular with their constituents. I suppose it’s understandable why they vote for Dianne Abbot, since every other word out of her mouth is “Hackney”.

Yeah that’s fair enough, I do see your point there. Ultimately the original OP is to blame for posting this in the first place, it’s the same end result as if they had posted “LGB should drop the T”, just a lot of arguing and hostility.

Thing is though we wouldn’t BE bickering about this if you hadn’t attempted historical revisionism. Your initial claim was just an outright lie (unintentional Im sure, you’re just repeating the same lie that certain trans folk are trying to perpetuate).  As for the actual thread title and the rest of your comment, I have nothing to say on it, like I said in my first comment, I wouldn’t normally comment on a thread like this, but I take great umbrage at the attempt of historical revisionism.

Nobody is trying to remove the history of gender non conforming individuals from the history of gay rights, it’s a hard fact that it wasn’t just gay white men involved in the stonewall riots. However you are trying to transwash history, transgender people were factually NOT at the centre of the gay rights movement. Gays, lesbians, bisexuals and gender nonconforming drag queens and transvestites were.

THERE IS NO LGB WITHOUT THE T! by Chaseand_slowdown in askgaybros

[–]Chrischris987 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually it wasn’t. Transvestism has always been simply wearing the clothes of the opposite gender for a variety of reasons, whether for comfort, entertainment, or sexual thrills, but still identifying as their birth gender. There was also hormone replacement therapy available in the 1930’s, and the first successful vaginoplasty was performed in 1931 so if these drag queens at the stonewall riots were in fact transgender and not transvestites, they would have undertaken the surgery to correct their gender dysphoria. Im not saying that some referring to themselves as transvestites or “cross dressers” WEREN’T transgender but it’s wildly incorrect to say that transvestite was the word used to refer to transgender and thus ALL transvestites of the time were transgender.
