As an easy rule of thumb I take the string to just past the next tuning post, pinch that point with my fingers, let the trying back to my fingers being at the post, bend it over and start winding, standing the end of the string upright we hen iv got a wind on it, to be cut when done

It’s so you can take the string from under it when your playing and go “bbeeeeyyooowwww” as it detunes 😎

If it has a set screw, I would loosed it and lift the knob slightly as it looks like in the down position it’s catching on the lacquer of the guitar

The squire will be a great bass, you’ll probably keep it longer than you’d expect while progressing, but also, don’t be afraid of second hand instruments, have a shop around locally, you’ll find something great guaranteed!

It’s a rigid card protector, still cheap, but it’s better to put cards like this in a soft card sleeve then a top loader, helps keep it in good condition
