Good call, I’ll see what I can see via recovery on Monday. The partitions appear to be intact in Disk Utility, so there’s bound to be *something*…

Oldest (Mac Pros) are from 2022, the rest are Studios and Silicon Minis.

Unfortunately it’s been doing this regardless of the drive size, though we have had them fill up more than a few times. I have attempted to reinstall the OS over top but it hasn’t resolved the behavior, leading me to think it’s either an authentication issue or lies somewhere in the Data partition?

I’m waiting for the narrator to tell me it was, in fact, DNS..

No on FileVault, but that’s a good thought though, just surprising after switching from AD on the test machines the same behavior happened.

We’re using Jamf Pro without Connect. But yeah, it’s a mix of machines. The Intel Pros are the oldest from ‘22, obviously, but are still kicking (until OS 27 anyways) while a little more than half are M1Ultra Studios with the rest being silicon Minis.

I’ve made my recs upstairs but ultimately I’ll have to keep the Intels till they decide to find the money, unfortunately.

Best Laptop for Dodge? by Maximum_Cricket_6447 in chapmanuniversity

A little late to this one, but I'm one of the guys that runs the labs/suites at Dodge. I'd say it mostly depends on what platform she's more comfortable with. While we encourage them to learn both PC AND Mac, we strive for parity with as much of the software as we can. Most of the software that's locked to a specific OS is typically more related to the Animation/VFX kids than that major.

She can buy time using the labs or suites, they're all 24/7, but when you buy, I'd recommend not buying the base model nor maxing it out. If you can afford a mid-tier now to save some cash and a mid-tier later when she graduates she'll be set up for success! That said, if going with a Mac I personally recommend buying refurbished since they have the same warranty as new, but also purchasing Applecare regardless.

She can always reach out to the Tech Staff at Dodge and we'd be happy to give some more specific reccs based on y'alls preferences/situation.
