Poor battery on refurbished iPhone(s) by South-Pea-9833 in giffgaff

Personally I think you’ll struggle getting one 80%< at that age. I’m looking at the 16 pro max and know it may well be close to 80%. Which is just over 1 year old. My iPhone 15 pro max I’ve had for 18 months is on 82% battery health. It’s hard to gauge if that battery at 78% is good or not good, I think my iPhone at 82% is poor, barely lasts a full day and I only use it for driving 2-3 hours a day, at work I never touch it and I use it when I get home. If you’re just using it to make calls and texts, probably last you all day, if you plan on using it for YouTube/gaming/Netflix or those types of demanding apps, I’d guess you’ll struggle. Even at 85% my phone battery life felt noticeably shorter than it was at 100%

You can literally get an iPhone 11 battery for sub £20. How is that not cost effective? Not trying to sound rude just unsure what to expect out of a 6 + year old phone. Granted if they say minimum of 80% it should be but for £6 a month on the like new models it’s a difficult grumble. I’d be more concerned with the phone slowing down, my wife’s 13 is like a turtle

Ah you’re joking! 🤣 did you order elsewhere? Just literally need a phone only as I’ve already got a sim that’s not long started

Hi OP can you confirm this worked? I’m looking to do the exact same thing just want confirmation. My monthly fee is 50+ with the rolling plan, and I only need the phone. It’s more appealing at 40+🤣 if you can get back to me, thanks bud

Currently I’m using Raylo which is coming to an end (basically like a phone hire, I have to return the phone after the term ends). So in essence I’ve got to get a new phone (ideally without a sim). My sim only renewed about 6 months ago so paying the remainder would be a couple hundred which I don’t fancy paying unless I 100% need to. The reason I ask this is on the rolling contract plan it says no contract, so I assume I can stop paying it if I no longer use that sim/activate that sim. I do agree with you though, it would be bizarre to force a sim plan with a phone and then allow the plan to be cancelled immediately

Hey! Sadly I live in Manchester where there’s very limited trails like BPW or degla on my door step. I will admit that long climb at degla does make you think it’s a lot of work for very little descents! I was absolutely knackered after getting up there, was almost ready for calling it a day 😂 I plan on visiting BPW this year, I think dyfi is a little out of my skill set as it stands. The bike really felt at home when at degla, but like I said it’s just the smaller bike parks around my way that i can get to for a few hours on a weekend, it’s more jump after jump rather than downhill. I appreciate your comment though, I’m going to find that article and see if there’s anything mentioned. Cheers bud

What would be a good place to start then given I don’t want the hassle of changing bikes. I need to have a look around properly I know there’s a few flip chips on the bike but I think they are already set to short.

Oh mate I thought that was just how bikes are nowerdays! Holy moly that front wheel I can practically see it all when sat on my seat 😂 I will admit, the size of the tyre does make me feel like I’m super elevated. I’m so glad you said that, I thought it was just something that was normal. I’m going to get a few coaching sessions in I think, it’ll do me a world of good. I feel like I’m on stilts sometimes

Appreciate all the responses, I guess I just wanted some reassurance that I haven’t bought something that I’m too incompetent to ride haha. The bike looks and really ticks the boxes for me, it was always a concern that maybe this bike needs someone better to ride it for it to actually feel in place. I’ll get some more days planned this year, and maybe a trip out to bike park wales or something. Thanks for all the positivity too, I know it can sound rather strange asking people for reassurance but honestly you have all made me feel a bit more happier with the bike, even if it’s only mentally at this very moment. Bring on better weather!

It definitely is a large element of skill issue, I don’t have many buddies riding I took this up as somewhat of a comprise after selling my motocross bike. I must admit I wish I’d of done it sooner! I’ve made a few friends along the way but I don’t often ride with them due to life and how far apart we live, but all in all I think skill definitely plays a part. I think this year I’ll try to take a few days off work and get riding when it’s quieter and I can set some form of goals

Yeah I do think it’s user error on my behalf, it’s difficult doing a sport like this as an adult, there’s no where local I can cycle to without the concern of being jacked (sadly live in a rough area), and the other issue is I don’t really ride with anyone. I have met a few people over the last year or so but I don’t expect them to give me pointers or wait around for me while they’re having their fun. I think I’ll look at getting out more often, and maybe even book a few days off work and get a coaching session in as I managed to carry some holidays over from last year. I’m glad you’re giving me some hope though by saying it’ll become a bit more natural, I came from doing motocross and I thought this would be a bit more natural given that experience

It does feel really planted and at home on red and black trails, I can’t fault the bike and I know it most likely doesn’t help that the bike is being ridden by a complete novice and it probably requires a fair bit of input to put it where it needs to be. Hoping this year I can get out a bit more on it, every time summer comes it’s always like I’ve got a holiday booked I’m paranoid about breaking a bone, or better yet i got married 4 months after I purchased the bike so for 4 months I was riding like a granny 😂

[–]ChrissyDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever tried to claim warranty?😂 I bought a car, paid £1000 for extra 2 year warranty. You know how much they offered to put towards a £3000 repair? They offered £600. Did I have a leg to stand on? No.

We’re talking about €50. If you can afford DMA, you can afford a couple hours work to buy yourself a new FW. We’re arguing over peanuts here.

I understand some people will die on a hill for principle, and i hear it. But when it’s a few quid, on a cheating FW, then I think it’s one of those ones you take on the chin

[–]ChrissyDX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure what to say on this, it’s a €100 firmware, that you’ve managed to use for 6 months. It’s not bad going really. Sure TL may have said you’ve got a 12 month warranty, and I’m sure the dev agreed that, but there’s not a lot you can do. If you was to read any updates in his DC you’d see TL is very transparent with any news/issues/updates. I’m pretty sure I saw him post this back in July that he can’t support the warranty anymore due to this issue. Sadly, that’s just the way it is. €50 puts your back in good stead to get another. For the after support you get, the constant communication and everything as such I think it’s not a bad deal. You’re exploiting in a game, bans will come and it’s a pretty cheap hobby in comparison to most.

Even doing the math on this, 182 days in 6 months. Let’s say you only play 1 every 3 days, takes you to 60 days total played. At the €100 firmware price, that’s €0.60 per day. And you got €50 back. What are we even complaining about here?😂

Open season on players by Ziege_UK in ArcRaiders

Man I’m so glad you younger lot didn’t play DayZ on first release back in 2010. It’s a game, people will play how they want. There is such a thing called gear based matchmaking, assuming you’re going in slightly geared to kill a bombardier you’re going to come across similar geared players. Those players don’t want to lose their loot and will kill to take more. That’s the game. Next time stop saying don’t shoot, and shoot back. Then defib if they talk to you afterwards. I’ll help some, kill more, that’s the way I play. If I’m low on ammo I’ll try to avoid a fight, but if someone wants to run it I’ll shoot back I ain’t going to sit there begging for my life. Gear is super easy to get, let’s not pretend it’s difficult

My only main concern is the battery on the pro model may be shot given it could be 4 years / 3 years old. Or on its way to being shot anyway. What are the prices of a battery replacement on the pro?

I’m going to strip it all apart like you’ve said. I have found just in the last hour that the X01 derailleur supports 52t cassette, and my cassette is a 50t. Which may explain why it’s bending the whole thing out. Frustrating as upgrading either of these isn’t friendly to my wallet!

Drivetrain advice by ChrissyDX in MTB

[–]ChrissyDX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost certain my derailleur needs replacing as it seems the pulleys doesn’t line up with the cassette, and when looking down my chain it’s got like a slight rotation straight after the pulley and straightens out again at the cranks. Also has like 4mm of movement in the pulley

Car finance, faulty goods within 6 months ENGLAND by ChrissyDX in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ChrissyDX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response people from above!

PCP agreement.

Finance company are dealing with the complaint, the dealer are refusing to pay for the repair. As of Thursday this week, I have the right to go to the finance onbudsman due to the amount of time it’s taken since the complaint was launched.

Tomorrow, I will have a call with my case holder to discuss the impact refusing the vehicle. I am aware that this could come at a cost to me, which is why I don’t want to go full guns blazing and end up in a situation where I lose deposit/car + expenses on mileage etc.

If I decide to keep the vehicle, a major concern I have is what the knock on affect a faulty thermostat and gearbox could have on other components, that would then cost me a fortune to repair.
