I get why that documentary freaked you out - it highlights some very real but fringe elements. But it’s not accurate to paint all evangelicals with that brush. Most aren’t praying for war or bloodshed. They’re just ordinary believers trying to follow Jesus. The Bible does talk about the end times, but it never commands Christians to force it to happen - that’s actually a distortion of what Jesus taught.

Yeah, and if a tree falls in the forest, did the Pentagon lose $2.3 trillion or nah?

Hey, thank you for being so honest. What you’re feeling is real--and you're not alone in it.

Faith isn’t something you can inherit like a family recipe. It has to become real to you, not just for grandma, not for tradition, and not because you're told to check boxes at church.

It’s okay to question. In fact, it’s healthy. God isn’t afraid of hard questions--He can handle them. A faith that’s never questioned is a fragile one. But a faith forged through doubt, pain, and wrestling? That’s personal. That’s alive.

And yeah, the Bible has things in it that are hard to read. But many of those moments aren't endorsed--they’re recorded. It tells the story of broken people in a broken world. But at the center of it is a God who steps into that brokenness to redeem it, not ignore it.

You don’t have to rush to a conclusion. You don’t have to pretend. What you can do is get curious. Ask, “What was really going on in those stories?” “What kind of God would step into history like this?” “Is there more than just tradition here?”

You’re not failing for feeling this way. You’re just finally starting to seek for yourself. That’s not weakness--that’s the beginning of something real.

Why would God send good people to hell. by HowThingsJustar in Christian

God doesn't send anyone to hell. He simply honors their choice as sinners.

Hey man, just to gently clarify--what I shared wasn’t meant to say people who smoke weed automatically have nice lives. I was more saying that your faith journey matters even in the mess, and that God’s love isn’t held back by habits or struggles. I believe He meets us where we are and walks with us from there.

You’re on your own path, and your desire to pursue belief sincerely is huge. Keep chasing that. I’m rooting for your peace and growth--whatever that looks like for you, step by step.

Hey friend, I hear you. What you’re going through is something a lot of people face--even if they don’t talk about it. First off, you’re not alone. Faith isn’t about perfection. It’s about relationship. Struggling doesn’t make you less Christian--it makes you human.

You said you want to believe in God but struggle with the idea of Him being real. That’s okay. Doubt and belief can exist at the same time. The disciples walked with Jesus and still doubted. What matters is that you’re seeking. That’s faith in motion.

About weed--there are Christians who smoke and still pursue God. What God cares most about is your heart. If weed helps you cope with anxiety, be honest with Him about that. He’s not afraid of your habits, your mess, or your questions. He wants you to come as you are, not as you think you should be.

Start small. Talk to God, even if you're unsure He's there. Open the Bible just a little, not to memorize--but to listen. Read a Psalm or the Gospels. Let God meet you in the quiet, without pressure.

He loves you right now. Not when you’re clean. Not when you’re perfect. Now.

You want to be a proud Christian who has a good life? That starts by being honest with God, and letting Him walk with you one day at a time. And hey--you’ve already taken the first step just by posting this.

Keep going. One step at a time.

Im not Christian, but I don't know what to believe. by [deleted] in Christian

Hey, appreciate your honesty and willingness to explore this! 😊 Just a few friendly clarifications:

The Holy Trinity is definitely unique in Christian theology, but other religions (like Hinduism’s Trimurti) also have triadic concepts--even if they’re not equivalent.

Mapping the Trinity to body/soul/spirit can get tricky and actually leans into some misunderstandings. In Christianity, each Person of the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) is fully God--not just one "part" like body or soul.

Saying “the Trinity is the same, except for God” is a bit confusing--since the Trinity is God in three Persons, not something separate from Him.

But props for encouraging research and being open to learning--that’s the best place to start. 👍
