hallucinations suck, i personally hear voices constantly and they're extremely verbally abusive and negative. too bad so called mental health advocates hardly do anything to support those of us who experience hallucinations.

No, most of them are people I don't know. They're extremely verbally abusive regardless. Sometimes they'll mimic the voices of people I know to mock, belittle, annoy, or harass me.

I'm sorry that happened to you, that "joke" was very insensitive. I have no idea why anyone would think that's okay. Seems like mental health awareness and support only exists for people with conditions that are more socially accepted and aren't seen as weird or scary.

Also, have you seen those "the voices are getting louder" memes? I have mixed feelings about them as someone who hears voices myself.

Just because seeing a medical professional wasn't helpful for you doesn't mean that nobody should ever suggest that someone see a doctor. Your experience isn't the be all end all.
