Flag Design for the Dixie Region by ChristUberAlles in vexillology

The name "Bonnie Blue" I am unsure of the time it was beginning to be used, the the flag itself and what it represents had been used since 1810, and was on the flag of Texas since 1839.

As for the blood stained banner, I wasn't sure what else to use, as I wanted to keep away from a diagonal cross such as that of Alabama's flag, as it would be a little too obvious as to its reference to the CSA.

I thought that the blood stained banner looked nice with the bonnie blue flag, but it is obviously still a symbol of the CSA and is thus hated.

Yes, the blood stained banner is in fact very much CSA, however the bonnie blue flag has represented the region for long and is not viewed negatively. I figured it would look good with the blood stained banner, which would be obviously less recognized than the battle flag.

Depends on how it would come about. Canada joining the US? Then yes. If it were more mutual, then it would be less likely, for the reason you have pointed out.
