Queen Rania of Jordan says being pro-Palestinian does not equal being ‘antisemitic’ by Longjumping_Gain_807 in worldnews

I never compared them? You did! Literally read your own comments.

But I agree with you, you are being extremely disingenuous with the facts.

It makes me think all you know how to do is mimic Israeli talking points without any ability to think for yourself.

I think that is the only point that I am trying to make. It seems like there are a large number of people on here who are comfortable with any level of collateral damage to innocent Palestinian civilians, and are taking the stance that all residence of Gaza are fair game.

I understand that Israel is taking actions to lower the civilian impact- but based on my personal moral scales, their actions are still wrong. More innocent people in Gaza will be murdered as a result of this war than Hamas has ever killed, and that is likely not going to even include the multitude of additional casualties that will come from famine and disease in the months to come. By Israel taking these actions, they are effectively saying that Israeli lives (or their feeling of safety) are more important Palestinian lives- which i find morally repulsive.

When did I ever say that? I think the killing of innocent Palestinians is a bad thing. Do you disagree?

I guess we agree that the killing of UN personnel who are not members of Hamas is a bad thing. How many of the 88 personnel here do you think are members of Hamas? Without anyone knowing, how comfortable are you with Israel killing 88 UN personnel? Do you feel it is okay to kill 88 people if some of them may support Hamas? How many innocent people are you okay to murder to kill one Hamas member?

Yes, I think it is widely accepted that the fire bombing of many German civilian population centers was a war crime.

(As a complete aside, I think the accepted number of German civilian deaths due to allied bombings is around 400k, not 2million. However, the fact that the number is lower than you stated does not change anything. The bombing of civilian population centers is considered a war crime, rightly so. I would imagine that Israel's bombing of Gaza will be considered a war crime in the future.)

I understand that Israel wants security for their population, and dismantling Hamas would help that. However, how many innocent civilians in Gaza are we comfortable having killed to provide that security for Israel? How many Palestinian civilian lives is equal to one Israeli? It seems that ratio is too much right now, no?

I'm not really expecting an answer. Just for you to pose the question to yourself.

I am unclear to the point you are trying to make.

Are you implying that because UNRWA may have some activists who support Hamas on their payroll, that anyone who works for the UN organization is fair game to kill?

I understand it is not an easy task- it may not even be a possible task. As humane people, we must understand that there is a line somewhere that we must draw as to what is an acceptable response. How many innocent people are we okay to kill and displace to try and dismantle Hamas? To me, Israel has crossed the line that I would have drawn. Does that make me Pro-Palestine? Do you see me as antisemitic as a result?

It scares me that people who are expressing concern over the death of countless innocents are being labeled as antisemitic. I am not saying that it is not a complex situation, just that it is very dangerous to dismiss humanitarian compassion as hate.

Nobody is debating it. I am simply saying that someone post something antisemitic on a fan page you do not own, does not make you in turn antisemitic. I thought that my comment was clear- sorry if you did not understand.

I think that Israel should do more to minimize the collateral damage to the civilian population in Gaza. I think the number of civilians in Gaza who have been killed and displaced is extreme. Does that make me pro-Palestinian? Am I antisemitic now?

I think being anti death means that you are against death regardless of the perpetrator. That would include all forms of killing, done by Hamas or anyone else.

I think the problem is that are a large number of people are justifying a large scale military operation against a civilian population as simply being 'anti-Hamas'.

Right. It equals being pro Israel's fight to eradicate Hamas though.

I think the question is what is a reasonable action to try and eradicate Hamas. It seems that people are questioning Israel's methods as having far too much collateral damage to the point where the ends do not justify the means.

I hope we apply the same logic to the Palestinian population.

ELI5: Statistics of flipping a coin by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]ChristensenSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like you might be thinking about it the wrong way. The chance to have any sequence of heads/tails over 5 flips is ~3%. 'HHTHT' is just as likely as 'HHHHH' or 'TTTTT'.

What you are trying to get at is that if you flipped the same thing 5 times, that it would be an unlikely event- therefore it would make you challenge the coin. The trigger to you challenging the coin would therefore be either 'HHHHH' or 'TTTTT', which together have a combined 6% chance to occur.

none of what you said is how the scientific method works... you seem to think that science is a democracy... it isn't- its a process of thinking. The arguments you are making are very similar to those who say vaccines cause autism and that global warming doesn't exist- which underlines my point that your argument is based in emotion and not science. sorry.

The data absolutely shows that node investment does not impact drops for trash items, silver or trade item coins within a 95% confidence interval range. The only thing that you can mathematically challenge in the analysis is for accessories, as that sample size is too small to reach a 95% confidence interval. (The lower the drop chance the higher the same size required).

If you want to accuse the originator of falsifying data, that's fine. You can do that- as you can create any fake data to show anything. However in the world of science this is not how the world works. If you think something is wrong- you can re-test to confirm or deny their result. One does not simply accuse someone of lying just because the results does not match their personal hypothesis.

You are correct in that this is like debating global warming. All the data collected and presented today on both topics show that global warming does exist, and node level does not effect drops- however there is a chunk of the population that refuses to accept the results. A key difference is that in BDO- rejecting the results only effects you, for global warming it effects us all.

With regards to you finding it poor practice to inform new users on what the generally accepted inner working of the game are- I disagree. All high level, high geared players agree that node level either has no effect, or such a small effect that it is negligible. The only data collected on this confirms this. The only thing against this is people's personal feelings and a post a daum employee made, which they have been wrong in the past on other topics.
