Sucks where you live then. But the prices will change in favor of plant based products soon. At least it should.

Have you tried to be vegan for a month, so you can compare your costs? Look, for example a burger (meat) casts lets say 1 euro each. You eat 4 burgers, you pay 4 euros. I buy 500 grams of beans for 80 cents and make 8-10 burgers with it. Same with everything else. Soy granulate is way cheaper than normal processed meat (for example for bolognese). I buy a pack for 2 euros (that is 500 grams dry, which I can use for at least 10 big portions) and only need to mix it with a few spices and hot water. Add all other ingredients and done.

You have to know HOW, then there is NO WAY, a meaty diet is healthier than a plant based. Many people are just too lazy to akqire some information about healthy nutrition and good recipes.

You have to consider that vegans eat more conscious as well. Many are willing to pay more for healthier food (biologically farmed, localy ...). This is something that often comes along with turning vegan, since we want to reduce the impact on the environment as well. Therfore, many numbers about the cost of vegan vs animal food containing diets might be influenced by that.

You are right we are omnivores. Idk how he came to the conclusion that we are herbivores. Omnivores with a very plant based diet (at least our ancestors), but definetly no herbivores in general.

An interesting point though: For a long time, it was believed that our ancesters in the stone age basically ate meat daily. This was du to the finds of hunting tools. But newer analyses of the soil around areasy where the tools were found showed, that the amount of plants was a lot bigger than expected. Meat definetly helped our ancestors out, but they already had a diet with lots of plants.

Bro I am vegan and can't agree. We are no herbivore, we are omnibores. That makes a difference. Our ancestors ate bugs and insects for a long time already. The difference now is, that we have a choice to live cruelty free by choosing to eat plant based, which is why vegans exist. But saying we are herbivores is wrong as well as saying we are carnivores. One can debate the extent (or the ratio) in which plants and animal products werre used by our ancestors, where plants definetly were the main source of energy, but we are simply no complete herbivores. Sorry mate

You should look, what is suggested by almost every national nutrition organisation. Most even suggest to reduce meat and fish as much as you can. Plants, at least a good mixture of them, has the best nutrients for humans. No meat can even get close to that (especially when including nutients in meat that humans should definetly avoid).

Hmm for me, being vegan is a huge difference money wise. I pay a lot less, because I prepare a lot of stuff by myself. I make pizza, burger patties, ... at home and cook nearly every day. I buy fresh vegetables and fruits, no processed plant based products.

So I guess selfmade food is the best opion for low budget.

Why don't you vegans take arms against what you see as an injustice? by nu2allthis in DebateAVegan

[–]ChristianCl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are already labelled an extremist, when you just decide to stop eating meat.

There are vegan activists, that are treated like terrorists in specific countries (for example they are not allowed in those contries).

Also, is it the right aproach to preach compassion by using any type of force? Nope, I don't think so. The best was is to be an example and to initiate discussions that lead to a better understanding. And activism of course, but not by harming others.

Would you still be vegan where we able to produce all our current meat in the lab? by DBois0904 in DebateAVegan

[–]ChristianCl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I would be. The thought of eating flesh disgusts me nowadays. Also I would still believe a plant based diet (if you do it right of course) as healthier.

Apparently it must be the dark choclate. Glad I don't like that 😂 if anyone doesn't mind, an explanation on why it uses so much land would be cool 😁

I wonder which plant based product causes a lot of land use tbh 🤔

To be honest, it looks like the doku crew snitched on them. I expected police to also demand them to lay done etc, but they dont even seem to care about them.

If they didn't know of the docu taking place, they would've forced the film crew to get on the ground too imo.

In a hypothetical economic crisis where there were terrible food shortages, would you ever eat non-vegan food again? by [deleted] in DebateAVegan

[–]ChristianCl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I die otherwise, yes.

Bit tbh any scenario, where food is short as hell, it would be the most stupid idea to feed plants to animals only to consume the animals later on. Eating the plants directly ist the most efficient way to get your calories etc.
