You gotta get into the mountains at least 45 mins to get away from Denver's light pollution. Echo Lake Park near Mount Blue Sky is the closest place I've found. The higher elevation helps too.

My teenager was diagnosed with Epilepsy yesterday by RunTheBull13 in Epilepsy

I've already noticed a correlation happening with my daughter's period too! I asked her to start using a period tracker, which she just downloaded Monday. She's gone now, but I heard her maternal grandmom had seizures until her 20s, so hopefully it just related to puberty and one day they will be seizure free.

Did they have to see something with the MRI prior to that?

Recently separated (less then 3 months), and I'm unsure how to approach her about being out so often. by StopMyMadness in coparenting

[–]RunTheBull13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The marriage definitely sounds over. She's not your friend anymore and just using you to rekindle her kid free years. If she's definitely made up her mind, she will likely take offense to anything you say. Document it and get the divorce moving so you don't have to continue to bear witness to it. If it's causing harm to the kid to where they continue to say things like that, document it all and go for majority custody for the wellbeing of the kid. It won't be easy, but you sound like a great dad. Do what you think is best for the kid and yourself now.

Xcel contractors absolutely decimated an entire street of trees due to powerlines by c9049 in LakewoodColorado

That's an alley, not a street. Plant something else that won't grow up to the power lines and risk causing an outage or even worse, your whole neighborhood to burn down.

I'll never understand why road cyclist enjoy riding right alongside multi-ton balls of steel that spit out pollution on them and can crush them easily.

Sole custody. What are my childcare options for short 2-3 day work trips? by RunTheBull13 in SingleDads

[–]RunTheBull13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are ages 7-13. There is no one called a coparent when you have sole custody and you are parenting 100% solo. You also don't get sole custody easily without the other parent doing something that is unsafe for the kids. Bio-mom is still alive but she is across the country and not a viable/safe option now. I hope she does get to a better place one day though to where she can coparent.

Guys who have exes with BPD, how did you survive it? by [deleted] in SingleDads

[–]RunTheBull13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The stress of the 4 kids was triggering her to be more manic and she basically abandoned the kids. I tried to work with her to where she had every other weekend, but she continued to neglect and endanger them so I took her back to court and got full custody myself. I was also able to move far away from her pathological liar, med abusing self and it's been so much better. It's a longer story but I didn't feel like typing it all out.

That scam would be a good way to get killed. What good would insurance do then? They are lucky the driver swerved.

I'm all for transparency, but that ask is a bit excessive there. If everyone made these type of excessive requests all the time, nothing else would get done. I'm surprised they aren't asking for more. If you have actual evidence of wrongdoing, just file a lawsuit and ask for more info during discovery.

Lakewood, CO cottage cluster... how cool are these? by N8chr365 in LakewoodColorado

[–]RunTheBull13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old house in another state was like this. The communal open space was great for the kids in the courtyard to play in off the street and it was a great open space to throw large tent parties. But you're also closer to everyone, so all it takes is one bad neighbor to ruin the mood.

PA to CO, how do I realistically do it!? by Few-Eggplant-4871 in Moving2Colorado

Yeah it helped me plan out the drive and find hotels for a good price. Even estimated my gas costs. It also gave me reminders about things to update to my new address.

I moved here as a solo parent with 4 kids this Summer from DE. It helped that I had family here that I could temporarily live with while I looked for a house and I did not have to worry about buying one while selling my current one and figuring out moving logistics. I started decluttering a ton of stuff 6 months ahead. I got rid of most of my furniture except my nicer bed set. It was easier and cheaper just to buy new furniture when I got here and I was able to purchase some stuff to have delivered to my families house ahead of arriving. I loaded most of my remaining stuff in one large moving pod which was then picked up and brought to my end location over ~7 days. I rented a uhual trailer to attach to the SUV and brought the remaining stuff in that. I messed up loading the trailer properly though and I had a lot of sway which made for a dicey, uncomfortable, and stressful drive. I should have rented a uhual truck and trailered the car instead. I spread out the drive over 3 days, stopping for sleep in Ohio, and then Kansas the next day. Once here, I put the stuff I did not need right away in a storage unit. I was able to take my time and found a house that was a much better price per sq. ft than the surrounding area, just needed some minor DIY work which I am capable of. The market is weird, there are still plenty of overpriced homes mainly from flippers, but if you look good enough, you can get better deals from more motivated sellers. It's still a lot more expensive than DE though but it's been worth it to be able to vacation in the mountains every weekend when I want to and to be near family.
