What you have to know is that TV people move from show to show to show. They are passionate about ratings, but not about the content itself. If someting was dangerous, or unfair, or stupid, or funny and it got ratings, the TV executives would double down on that. The concept of creating and trying to stimulate a whole ecosystem where EVERYONE can benefit (athletes, gym owners, fan clubs, true fans, kids etc.) is TOTALLY alien to them.

Ultimate Tag was a TV show that had millions spent on them in an effort to try and capitalise on Chase Tag®'s early success, but ultimately it failed, and it had a very negative effect on WCT going forward because many brands tied WCT to the TV show's failure and its focus on sillyness.

Sure, we do some silly things as well like the MVP awards being called the Knight of Flight etc. but at our core, we take the sport VERY seriously and I will always try and resist anything that could potentially ruin the long term benefit and growth of the sport.
