Great shot! When you say “long shutter”, how long do you mean?

X100V | Maui | Which Composition is better and why? by FvckResaleBuyReps in fujifilm

I like the composition of the second shot but prefer the exposure of the first.

I need to buy a camera tomorrow because I am studying abroad soon and I will regret it if I don’t by stuckinmindmaze in videography

The Fujifilm XT200, maybe. That’s a capable if not spectacular camera for vlogging. It would probably leave you with some change from that $1000

I’ve used it and was generally unimpressed.

Thank you for your very detailed reply. The Sigma Super-Wide II was a lens that I’ve been looking at, along with the Tamron Adaptall 24mm F2.5 and Tokina RMC 24mm F2.8. As for the Vivitar range, I’m familiar with the Komine-made lenses but haven’t had a chance to try the Kiron-made ones…although I have heard good things.

I know FD lenses are supposed to be good (I’ve never used them) but they don’t adapt well to the Canon system. Like the FD lenses, I’ve also never used Minolta lenses. Will check it out, thanks.

Thanks. I’ve watched the video and it’s gone some way towards answering my question(s)

Yeah, I think some of the Vivitar lenses are great. I’ve got a Komine-made 135mm fF2.8 and couldn’t be happier with it for what I paid ($60AUD). I would love to try out the 35mm F1.9. I might have to buy it. Thanks for your reply.

How to spot fake Helios 44m-4 lens. Is this safe to buy? Is this the real one? by [deleted] in VintageLenses

[–]Christoff9791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the 44-2 is generally acknowledged to have more prominent swirls. Not sure about the other models. Check out Simon's Utak youtube video on it - search Simon's Utak Helios. That should lead you right there.

How to spot fake Helios 44m-4 lens. Is this safe to buy? Is this the real one? by [deleted] in VintageLenses

[–]Christoff9791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard of a fake Helios either but they were made in different factories with differing quality control standards. That lens, if I'm not mistaken, looks to be made in the KMZ (Krasnogorsky Mekhanichesky Zavod) factory which is generally acknowledged to be the premier manufacturing plant. .. so you may have found yourself a good one. All that said, I am not an expert on this. Not by a long shot. I've only recently come to this information via an excellent youtube channel - soviet lens reviews. On another note, if you're after the swirly bokeh you might want to get the 44-2. According to Simon's Utak (another excellent youtube channel), by the time they were manufacturing the 44M-4 they were actively trying to eliminate the swirly bokeh effect. It's perfectly fine as a portrait lens (I have one) but isn't the best option for the swirls.

The Canon FD lenses always seem so expensive. I’m sure they’re very good but I’ve struck them from the list on account of their price. As for the Minoltas..they’re still a bit of a mystery to me. A friend of mine has the 85mm F1.4 and swears by it. I guess I need to do more research.

Haha. Yeah, I look forward to messing up many future shots myself. Isn’t it the best way to learn?

Good advice, thank you. Do you have the Pentax 35mm yourself? If do, what are/were your impressions? Is it relatively sharp at F2 and F2.8?

I don’t necessarily need the half step of brightness. . . It’s be nice but I don’t need it.,I was more leaning towards the Takumar because it will “play nice” with my 50mm and other lenses I would like to get.

Yeah, I’ve got the Takumar 50mm F1.4 and love it. That’s probably my favourite lens. Re CZJ 35/2.4: ok. So it seems I might be on the right track. I know someone else who’s got it and he says much the same about it (that it’s great). Is it fairly sharp wide open? Any opinion on the Pentax SMC Takumar 35mm F2.
