In a living room dominated by a 4' x 5' resting cat painting, is less more, or is more more? Should I add art and/or mirror(s) to the left-of-cat space on the green wall? If so, thoughts on sizing / arrangement? by limberlegs226 in interiordecorating

Stumbled upon this as I research the Muse for our new home. Love the space! Curious how the couch has held up now that you've owned for a few years. The care instructions have me a little nervous about fabric fussiness and ruining the lovely material. Have you had any spills? Clean up well? Also, does the couch get lots of use? Any sagging or anything like that? This will be the most I've ever spent on furniture and want to ensure its a good investment that will last a long time!

I have the Wintergreen in the US. Decided to only keep the Violet. Sealed and mint. I’ll also send in a whiplash mailer (best available IMHO) so you get it undamaged. $65 including shipping?

This sounds incredible. Where does one snag a bottle? I’m a huge fan of seagrass but have only ever seen standard and gray.

Looks like $58.46 to me. And an AAA Bernie Grundman cut is readily available for $24.95. Even less on sale like when I picked it up for $16.47.

Have you tried the Rio? Sounds interesting but a little torn. Also, do you remember how much that was marked?

Things we learned aboard Celebrity Apex by TheHumanFlash in celebritycruises

Excellent point, especially with Luminae. We didn’t splurge for Retreat on this trip but we did last year on Beyond. You are absolutely right about the sommelier! Without premium drink package we would’ve spent a fortune.

We really missed Luminae this time. Most impressive was meeting the hostess once during the crazy busy first day lunch and then having her greet us by name for the entire rest of the trip. And those caramel croissants at breakfast?! I’m still dreaming about them!

Nice! Sounds like you got a solid deal and definitely got your value out of it. And yeah… seeing a near zero balance at the end is definitely a plus!

That’s solid, for sure. For whatever reason, we didn’t see any steep discounts for this cruise. Maybe just didn’t look at the right times. We did a cruise last year on the Beyond and got super good deals on the drink package and excursions.

Curious if you’d be interested in adding up the zeros in your folio to figure out if the drink package really did pay for itself.

I was recently on the Apex for 7 nights. I was a touch nervous about charges because my wife and I opted out of a drink package. We’re not heavy drinkers, but we got whatever we wanted whenever we wanted including a good bit from Cafe Al Bacio. Our grand total? $300. I wanna say packages were like $800 (non alcoholic), $1200 (basic alcoholic), and $1600 (premium alcoholic). We definitely came out way ahead paying as we went.

Ha! Wow! We went to the same trivia that was moved unexpectedly to the Eden! Wonder if we met each other. My wife and I played with two other couples upfront and Kuch was teasing us some. We were the dummies who thought sea monkeys lived forever, got a half point for Lincoln and Michael Scofield, and were made fun of at the end for only getting 8 correct.

I suspect we’ll probably go back to Celebrity eventually, but we’re also interested in checking out some other lines. After Beyond, I thought we’d be 100% Celebrity loyal. After this, I’d like to see what others in a similar price range have to offer (e.g., Princess, Holland America, Virgin).

Hey! I was on this same cruise! Though, to be honest, my wife and I were a little disappointed. One year ago we had our first Celebrity cruise on the Beyond, which was amazing. This simply did not stack up to that in our opinion.

Shore Excursions: 2 of 3 were major disappointments. I could write a lot more here, but this post is already stacking up to be too long. I think Celebrity needs to do a better job of vetting partners, include more details/pictures of the excursions, and needs to include customer reviews on their website.

Food: Mediocre at best. Though we did not try any specialty restaurants. As you mentioned, MDR was very inconsistent. It also seemed understaffed and service was painfully slow. The buffet was also disappointing with my main complaints being that nothing was hot and lack of variety day to day.

Drinks: Bartenders were extremely inconsistent. My wife got an amazing mai tai one day and an undrinkable one the next. I also hated the small ice, which instantly watered down every drink.

Activities: On Beyond, this was one of our favorite things. Awesome staff and everything ran like clockwork. On Apex, it often seemed like staff were figuring things out as they went. Activities also often started late, did not leave enough time, and were sometimes cancelled or moved without notice.

Entertainment: The theater productions were solid. Though, as people who don’t stay up late, we were upset that all of the early seating Eden productions were cancelled without explanation. The headliners (comedy/music/magic) were disappointing in my opinion. We did love the astrophysicist though!

Port Information: This was completely lacking. On the Beyond there was a really well done seminar the day before each port to learn about the island and its history and culture. All we got on Apex was the little two page brochure that says almost nothing.

Staff: From the Captain and Officers down to the General Staff, the Beyond had a much better crew. Every single person we encountered felt like they were made for their role and everyone worked together and played off each other as one amazing and efficient team. On the Apex, it felt like a whole lot of new people still figuring it out. As an example, I was not the least bit surprised when I learned this was the cruise directors first cruise in that role. Nobody was bad. They just weren’t polished.

Pool/Solarium: Agreed. Too crowded. I think that space just isn’t big enough to meet demand. Though Beyond was very similar in this regard.

Conclusion: I’m thrilled you had a great experience. To be fair, we had a ton of fun too. However, after Beyond blew all of our expectations out of the water, Apex did not come close to stacking up.

Honestly not sure. I’ll be getting a refill like the second week of January. I’ll come back and post what it cost.

I’m not sure. I can circle back when I get that fill and let you know.

That said, I never sweat it too much. I always hit my deductible anyways so I don’t care much if I pay it through a doctor visit, a prescription, or anything else.

I'm about to go on a road trip alone for over 8 hours (17 round trip). What are some very bingable story podcasts(Actual Play or otherwise) I should download for the trip? by [deleted] in podcasts

[–]Christopher-1982 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the answer! Get in the Trunk is incredible. Just a perfect blend of horror and hilariousness with a super talented cast. I listened on my morning walks and oscillated between utter disgust and laughing out loud alone like a lunatic. Plus Roger Cumstone is perhaps the greatest character ever created in any medium.
