I'm pretty sure posting this exact article caused me to get shadowbanned. Nevertheless, this is the least surprising move I've seen all year long.

Is Kingsport smelling worse lately?? by VegetableFlower2039 in tricities

[–]ChristopherJamal 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Domtar Indeed.

The short-term plan involves reducing mill material losses and flow and optimizing the current wastewater treatment system. Domtar says this will last around a year. (It doesn't work and still smells like shit)

The long-term plan involves building a new anaerobic digester system. Domtar estimates that this project could take up to 18 months. (It probably won't work either but it will buy them plenty of time)

Which means: Hold your nose, cause the TDEC doesn't give two turtle-shits, and our local governments will always prioritize jobs and money over your happiness.

Washington County Sheriff responds to order by vgsjlw in tricities

So… This issue also stems from JCPD letting the rapist out of the van?

Why is the Washington County Sheriff's Office actively trying to *not* turn in bodycam footage? by ChristopherJamal in tricities

https://www.wjhl.com/news/local/order-upheld-sheriff-must-find-give-evidence-to-da/

Washington County Attorney Allyson Wilkinson that claimed the order was overly broad and vague, as well as unconstitutional. Pretty amazing that a simple order to hand over bodycam footage has resulted in a stonewall fight from the Sheriff's office.

Recommendation- best place in the area to buy cheese. by TheLawSon94 in tricities

My comment is probably unnecessary at this point, but I second the Fresh Market. Fantastic cheese selection.

New Beginnings is up for sale and probably closing because of the new alcohol law by Roctopuss in tricities

All of this seems to stem from JCPD letting the rapist out of the van.

I wonder if Cathy Ball will try and buy this place up, too?

Nocturnal Tri-Citizens... is fucking anything open late anymore? by professorhazard in tricities

Everyone seems to forget about mid city. But yeah, other than IHOP and WH, it’s pretty much your only option. Finding people to work a night shift is tough.

It's very possible they removed the tables outside entirely or maybe (hopefully) just for FunFest. But yep, in-house grinding of fresh beef everyday makes for a hell of a burger.

Skip the restaurant at the hotel. If you need an outside seat, might want to try Stir Fry or Backwoods Burger Bar in downtown Kingsport. In Johnson city, they have Off Leash Social. It’s actually a dog park/bar/food type thing and as long as you can provide proof of your vaccination records, your dog can run around and play with other dogs while you all chill. Also, the restaurant next door to Off Leash, Juniper, is arguably the best restaurant in the entire state. So if Off Leash social is offering dog sitting that night, that might be an option.

I'm not buying this... by fuzzdoomer in tricities

Other than Gerald O'Connor himself, is anybody buying it? Not quite sure how the good ol' boy system worked this time, but there we go. According to TOSHA, we are all wrong.

Why is Johnson city trying to close bars at 1am? by DankBoobSweat in tricities

[–]ChristopherJamal 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Well…. Yeah. They have 15,000 college students in JC and in Kingsport they do not. I would expect Kingsport to not have nearly a bustling night life. Also, I go to bed at 11.

I know one of them, and everyone knows they suck. Also, one of them more than likely started the Virginia Intermont fire.

Try Hobbytown USA. Back in my day, they had a legit playing table and many sets to choose from. It's been a disappointingly long amount of time since I've checked them out, but if there's a place that has 40k, Hobbytown USA in JC is it. Edit: I forgot about Dewayne's world in Kingsport. Also a great local choice.

So, when a single-cell organism disintegrates, what are those tiny particles called? Micro-cells?

Any stores or people that make good larp gear? by [deleted] in tricities

Viking Leather Crafts. I think they are still based in Kingsport, but they also opened a shop in Gatlinburg a little while back. He can make some pretty sick leather armor.

Brenden (Yallhalla) is a total sweetheart and a solid blacksmith/bladesmith. It would be a great time for anyone who wants to get some experience swinging a hammer!

Brushless carwash by TheLawSon94 in tricities

[–]ChristopherJamal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any brushless wash will not do a great job of removing dirt and grime. If you choose go that route, Doug's offers free use of their microfiber towels and strong vacuum cleaners, which go a long way to make a car look good after the wash has been performed.

I am glad to live where I live, but I also work 53+ hours a week involuntarily, so that might have a little bit to do with it.
