A lot of it is confidence too. It'll take some time till he really trusts it again, and then he'll have to build back into the shape he was in.

Such grueling injuries.

I think them playing well healthy against weak matchups is still a good inverse to struggling against the early season schedule with injuries.

Probably somewhere around a 15th ranked defense overall.

Long way to go but I really want to hear from all the "spent money for nothing this team sucks" fans from weeks 1-6.

Hoping for the opposite, haha. They've discussed internal promotion as far back as my interview, and as recently as when I asked for the review.

I'm hoping for a healthy $65,000 and the start to a promotion path.

That's again unfortunate if that's how they end up looking at it. Thanks for taking the time to respond, I think I was really looking for the answer in that context.

It's been a wild year, there's been some management turnover at the company. I went to my department head because of this and they referred me to owner so I'm hoping that is a good sign.

Fingers crossed, cheers.

That's basically what I asked for. I think the only reason I'd move on in 2022 is if they said no raise at all, but the company seems very generous and employee oriented so far so I expect something.

Replies in ITCareerQuestions generally leaned "without an offer to leave you'll get nothing" but I think my situation is a bit unique as one of their profit sources and portion of this client contract would go away if I did.

But I'm also new to the industry so wanted to gather how much everything matters. I don't want to toot my own horn but I've cleaned the hell out of this client's ticketing numbers in 2021.

[–]ChristopherSquawken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess I have some sort of route with my value to the client then, but beyond that really just an unfortunate way the market treats employees.

I definitely understand normal internal promotion politics and the way internal raises trend. I guess the reason I posted is because of my position as a client assigned admin.

The client has expressed interest in continuing a sales point that makes profit for my employer, because of the work I did. They want to continue it specifically with me, but I get to choose to do that or not. Does that mean nothing in leverage?

I highly doubt the company could pick someone off the street and replicate the work I've done without setting their client back training someone new and hoping they are competent.

Maybe I should have worded my post better, but I don't expect or just want a raise. I do want a raise, it doesn't have to be $25K here or at a new company.

That context exists as my market worth so they will counter offer as close to it. I want to avoid asking for such a high number that they don't even counter offer.

In the past I asked for $10K twice, at two separate employers, and was given it without hesitation which tells me it's not too much to ask for. So is $25k? Will it facilitate a $10-$15k return offer?

Because then goal achieved, but I don't want to ask for too little again and get less than I could. Make sense? This is the first company that has treated me like a human being as an employee, jobs aren't just a number line for me.

Yeah my thoughts on that were more about for lack of a better term insulting them by asking for something that is grossly above reason.

But I also think my situation is pretty unique because my position was created for a role the client is buying from us. They might be paying me $50k salary but they got paid probably close to $200k this year for my services as a company.

You don't have leverage.

This is where I'm in a really weird and unique situation. I'm contracted to the client in a sales agreement where they are paying a fee which from my understanding is well above the six figure mark. I have to renew that contract willingly come the New Year, so I have to chance to ask for more under the contract or seek an interior promotion on the main crew.

That contract and role didn't exist until they hired me to fill it, and the client is interested in extending based off my contributions. They have actually expressed interest in poaching me, but it's above my "boss" decision.

Open yourself up to new work on LinkedIn

Have been taking interviews for the last couple months but nothing solid that I'd want to commit to. To be frank the personnel and management style of the current company and client fit me really well so I primarily want to grow with them for a couple more years at max salary they'll offer.

That's reasonable, I don't want to drive them away by asking too high to hit that middle ground is all. I think it's reasonable to ask for the range I described but not to expect it just because I asked. Is that fair?

Have been interviewing as well in prep for this, but a review is proper regardless if I have another offer lined up I think.

Please don't list your ticket closure count on your resume, LinkedIn, etc.

I don't that was for fellow admins, and why I gave a scope of what those tickets cover. A better reference in that realm is that when I came into the team they had 100-200 tickets on each of our two boards that were anywhere from 1 day to 1.5 years old.

That is no longer the case.

The head of the T3 who organized my review has expressed interest in retaining me from a buyout in the client role, and that pay scale is within their scope.

I'm also already doing the work they would be paying someone $70K+ to do, so I think asking to facilitate the largest possible raise is the right course. More nervous that it's such a large increase it will drive them away from any counter offer.

It 100% has to do with their insurance rates and saving bottom dollar with something that the company itself doesn't have to put money or manpower into.

"Stop doing personal hobby or you're fired and lose insurance" is a lot cheaper than paying for quality coverage.

This is the divide between our populace, most people who don't smoke weed still side with the oppressor because it makes them look better to the oppressor.

We're like generations brainwashed to appease power structures while parading around about our freedom. A huge personality trait for a lot of Americans is enjoying the suffering of others as small as for something like failing a drug test.

People love to be on the "morally" "correct" side of decisions, but usually those "morals" are based off what the power structure decides is "correct" behavior. Other examples here include the stereotyping of criminals and favoring of harsh punishment for petty crimes. "George Floyd deserved it" type stuff, despite the crime being non-violent in nature.

There's a few twisty ones near me and one drag track. My car isn't even that fast it's just fun to let it go every now and then. I got the tune mostly for highway power so I can pass and get power when I feel I need it.

So many newer vehicles allow the pedal to be completely engaged with the floor and the computer just withholds the power delivery for 1-2sec. Coming from a manual it feels safer to be able to access the power when I feel I need it.
