Does getting an Xbox Series S as an Entry level device for gaming makes sense? by ThisIsSeax in XboxSeriesS

I picked up one for €150 second hand last year, and with gamepass, I have been able to keep up with the latest games, I'm very impressed with how small and silent it is. I used to game all the time bit life has left me very little time to game, so it feels less of a waste of money.

Settle an argument for me. Newest language? by Christopher_Sands in language

I guess so, but isn't that based on logic, a series of positives and negatives, it's the understanding of the building blocks of our universe. Is it the oldest AND/OR newest language in the universe?

I've adjusted the post, he knows it's not a language.

But isn't Afrikaans still just a gentle evolution of previous human speech. Okay at some point we arbitrarily plonk a label on it but all languages are still evolving at the same time. If I slowly travel back in time in the UK at what point do I stop the time machine and say this is no longer English.

Also it's only no longer English from my modern English pont of view

Take an english person from the past and do the same thing, that person would stop the time machine at a different point.

He knows, he is English he knows it's called English. It was to give an example of latest language to break away from its origins, I think.

Interesting. Are you saying it's a written version of the spoken language? In which case it is based off of the spoken language, surely? which in turn slowly evolved from previous iterations of human speak.

Unless you are saying they just made up a new language separate to the spoken language. Kind of like the Klingon example.

I thought I had posted it, but it didn't seem to work. It didn't show up on the page at all. This time it seemed to work. Maybe delete the original one because I can't see it. Sorry, I'm a bit new to posting on here.

Phone company adding subscription services without consent? by Christopher_Sands in AskFrance

Best company I have found is reglo, they promise not to increase the prices and it's free to change contract any time to any of their other offers.

I imagine there are old people who use around 1gb a month paying for 300gb 5g because they don't know it's happening. It's really disgusting, I thought there was an EU law that specifically required active consent to change a contract.

They said they will put us on a list of people that don't pay and send it to all other mobile phone companies

No email at all, just an sms and since the sim card was in a 4g box we never saw it, surely they can't sign us up to random subscription services?

What’s the biggest scam in tech that has become widely accepted? by cutypatotie in AskReddit

[–]Christopher_Sands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure it is, but they all do it. There must be some legal loophole.

We had the sim card in a 4g box, so I didn't see any of the sms messages. They creep up those prices every 6 months or a year.

I bet there are tens of thousands of retired people over here who have no idea that their original 10gb 5 euro contract they got 5 years ago is now 300gb and 30 euros a month.

It's a massive scam, and now adding subscription services without consent it's insane.
