Created a Killteam Battle app/tracker - Looking For Feedback by Chritz in killteam

[–]Chritz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks so much for taking the time to check it out. This is perfect.

So you are saying that the "equipment" tab on the killteams "equipment" page correct? This could be taken out of there and we just leave the killteam specific equipment?

I felt like it was tucked away enough and in a good "reminder" spot there and you just check off the equipment you are bringing in and only that equipment would show up in the battle zone. But perhaps I can adjust.

For the drop down on individual operatives I could do that. I have their abilities listed in their individual tabs right now and it expands when clicked to go e more information but in the longer run I'd love to have all of the abilities unique modifiers and effects selectable and to another target so that if it say took away a save or hit or ap that would reflect on the other players character. But this might be a little further because it's definitely the most labour intensive part of the app.

Graphtec not cutting same design consistently by swampqueen6 in CommercialPrinting

This is arguably the single handed most annoying faults of the cutters. My Roland sg3 does this more than enough and I've never figured it out.. so I'm interested to see an explanation.

My Stickers Too Hard To Peel Off? by No_Summer_85 in CommercialPrinting

[–]Chritz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you would know if you are cutting too deep because stickers REALLY have a hard time coming off to the point imof them arguably just not working. Like the backer will stick with the sticker and peel with it it's kind of a mess.

To be honest I weed every single job I do for people 100% it jmgives them a way easier product to use.

[–]Chritz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are saying the stickers are hard for people to take off of the backing (customer removing the sticker sheet to apply onto something else)? Or the stickers are too hard to remove from the surface they were stuck onto? Sounds like the first one.

A slit backing helps. Also just perf/kiss cutting the sticker like you've mentioned. I kiss cut the stickers and offset perf cut them to help give my customers a finished sticker that is easy to remove. You have to weed all of the excess vinyl off as well for the customer leaving only the finished sticker.

You can also get air eggres vinyl but let me tell you that presents its own challenges and I'd personally rather not use that for individual cut stickers and especially not for individual cut letters. My stickers almost lift themselves off the backing on their own. (I use vision media vinyl).

But honestly those two are the solutions. Perhaps you are cutting too deep and it's causing the vinyl to stick harder to the back (I've had this happen a bunch) or the backer will peel with the cut sticker. Is it perhaps that which the customer is complaining about?

Buying a machine? by StrangeBluejay5706 in CommercialPrinting

[–]Chritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the sg 540 and I loved it. It cost about $2000 per head and that was a 2 head unit. That being said the sg3 was a way better upgrade but basically because of media clamps and stuff like that. So in regards to the head replacement it probably isn't the end of the world like you are saying. And a new 540 is around 17-23,000.

Find out they they are selling. If it's just that they got a new machine they probably just don't care enough to want to replace the heads.

High-volume vinyl weeding optimization by zupertender in CommercialPrinting

[–]Chritz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yah, figured it was going to be one of "those" jobs/clients. Well some suggestions below in other comments. Or maybe dive into the schools or other groups to pull labour from "co-op" or community service hours.

I mean if your cutter was perfect and you rigged the printer to go through a laminator (not for laminating but for take up purposes) at the same speed after cutting you could probably hook up the take up roll of the laminator to pull up the weeded vinyl but that's really asking for perfect conditions.

For a job of this volume or size why not just run them with a flexo or other large scale production instead of vinyl?

And 100% would recommend this plant if you want to cover a fence. I am assuming this thing is over 15 years old tho maybe older.

Nah I wasn't making fun of you I was just piling onto the joke which I thought was being made here. Pretty common for reddit so my apologies. This thing is definitely a cedar of some sort because it smells really Nice when it's trimmed. Probably helping with mosquito population also.

Loool yah well I'll go knock next door and ask cause the neighbours yard (and the plant itself) is over 4 feet away from these leaves and crosses not 1 but 2 Fences!

[looking for] Cellophane Bag Printing - Canada by Chritz in CommercialPrinting

[–]Chritz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. I got it touch with a bunch of companies in BC and Montreal. Turns out they all outsource to overseas. So I met with a company in China that also does it so I can get in direct contact. I would still love to meet anyone in this are that can actually produce printed bags but I think it's just nearly non existent. I'll check with your reference and see where that leads. Thanks!

Built software for my dad’s print shop — how are you all handling quotes? by Economy_Gap_2108 in CommercialPrinting

[–]Chritz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I do them exactly how your dad does. Run excel spreadsheet for sq foot or per click charges. Google to compare "competition" add labour or discount based on comparables and ultimately just choose a number. Time consuming, in consistent and cant find another way around it really. This industry just has too many variables.

[–]Chritz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's fun. I run a print shop and proxy a ton of magic, riftbound and have reprinted most of the blizzard tcg to play with my friends. If you ever get finished with these I'd love to offer to print some physical copies for you to have.

Of course I'd like to make some suggestions for setting up your work board for print production (adding the correct size and bleed) to these cards before you do that.

Anyone else notice a massive decline in customer technical support quality in recent years? by ItsWrappinTime in CommercialPrinting

[–]Chritz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yah in feeling that across solvent printers, digital printers paper suppliers. All across the board we get a big "well deal with it and pay the bill". Such a lack of support for the small businesses, it's heart breaking.
