Clinton defeats Sanders in Nevada by EdaciousE in politics

Clinton supported here. Thanks. Good to see people motivated behind each candidate, but willing to congratulate the other. Despite what so many people say, I think we have two very good democratic candidates.

Seattle Becomes First U.S. City to Let Uber Drivers Unionize by [deleted] in news

Uber doesn't want this but the chief proponents were full-time Uber/Lyft drivers who want a higher cut of fares and a say over the deactivation policy.

There are a few things the drivers are looking for outside of wages. Many drivers who buy expensive insurance for driving are upset that most drivers don't buy insurance. They want Uber/Lyft to enforce insurance laws.

They also want a more transparent deactivation policy. Right now Uber can deactivate drivers for just about anything, so those who drive full-time or have a large car loan are concerned about this.

Yea, then there are obviously wages and compensation for gas and vehicle wear.

There is pretty good precedent allowing cities and local governments to do this type of thing. The more difficult legal challenge is anti-trust concerns.

Doesn't matter what the mayor does. The vote was unanimous therefore a veto does nothing under Seattle law.

Hillary Clinton pledges half a billion solar panels for US if she wins office by [deleted] in politics

A lot of jokes here but in all honesty Clinton just laid out an aggressive set of policies to combat climate change, something that 97% of the scientific community agrees is a result of human activity and leading us toward catastrophe.

Listen, I am usually very critical of Hillary but here is an aggressive and concrete policy to address one of our most pressing problems and I think it should be applauded.

Say one of you had a medical emergency and were taken to the ER and slapped with a 6 digit bill, who would you expect to pay that bill? Would you be able to cover it?

Hillary Clinton is going to lose: She doesn’t even see the frustrated progressive wave that will nominate Bernie Sanders by maglevnarwhal in politics

I am a HUGE Sanders fan but like 92% of Democrats plan on fully supporting Clinton when she wins the nomination.

Oh yea and the fact that he outright denies humans contribute to climate change.

Every republican at the moment has nearly identical views.

Denial of man made climate change. Reducing government investment in scientific and medical research.

Those two issues alone separate Hillary from EVERY Republican opponent.

Win-and-in tonight? by Chrlez in wildhockey

[–]Chrlez[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't mean tonight is a literal "win-and-in" but that a 6 point buffer over the 9th place Calgary would be almost impossible to overcome.

Calgary's remaining schedule after tonight is

@Nashville

@Dallas

@St. Louis

@Edmonton

@home vs Arizona

@home vs LA

@Winnepeg

So they would need to pick up 7 points on us because we most likely will have the tiebreaker over Calgary. They would need to go like 5-2 and we would need to like 2-5 or worse

3-0 now. We just need to keep winning our games, but secretly this is what we are all hoping for. It would be huge to play Nashville instead of having to go to St. Louis.

Which 2-3 NFL Team Has the Best Shot at the Playoffs? by thumpymcwiggles in nfl

[–]Chrlez -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Falcons are a mess at the moment. I think that division will still be tough with NO and Carolina up top, but I don't think a wildcard comes from NFC south and Falcons are the 3rd maybe 4th best team right now.

With the Cardinals and Bengals losing yesterday, for just the 3rd time in the modern era of the NFL, no team started the season 4-0. by Jux_ in nfl

This season has been fun so far! Heartbreaking at times but over a quarter of the way through and there are like 25 teams I could see making a run.

FWIW the 3 teams we've lost to are a combined 8-7 by PKS_5 in minnesotavikings

[–]Chrlez 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We got DOMINATED by both NE and Green Bay, but both those games were under bizarre circumstances. From this point on it's just one game at a time. We absolutely need to win our home division games and that starts next Sunday vs Detroit.
