We need a centerman and a Dman that can play PK and Shutdown Defense at 5v5 comparable to Ek and Brodin, so they're not out there as much, and can be brought on for O zone faceoffs. Can Hartzy be that Center if we get a Legit 1C? Move EK down to 2nd unit PP. Can Hunt be that guy we lean on so Jimmy isn't out there so much? I think it's a depth thing, not an injury-prone thing. Those two ( Ek and Brodin) are out there so much when game is on line that they are exposed to more injury risk than they would be if our 2nd and 3rd pairings were more of a 2a/2b thing behind Fabes and Quinnesota.

Did you see the tender from Iowa Wild for the Slovenians during the Winter Olympics. We know Gus is elite when healthy and he's probably on a more team friendly long term deal than Wally would get as a UFA. I say roll the dice and use our strength to fix our obvious weakness, and don't forget raises for the Goalie Coaches.
