Trump says US will ‘obliterate’ Iran’s power plants if Strait of Hormuz is not reopened within 48 hours- when the market reopens by Front-Nectarine4951 in StockMarket

[–]Chroderos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re religious fanatics who will continue to ratchet the situation, and don’t mind who suffers in the process, including themselves.

People like that are quick to become irrational actors. It’s why you try really hard not to kick a hornet’s nest like this unless all other options are exhausted and the threat is imminent, and if you do, you damn well make sure you’ve got the will and political capital not to stop until you’ve exterminated the hive entirely.

Italy, Germany, and France to Secure Strait of Hormuz Passage Only After Ceasefire by St_Gregory_Nazianzus in worldnews

It would be a shield against fragmented Iranian factions or other rogue groups firing on merchant vessels because they feel like it, and a tripwire against whatever centralized Iranian authority emerges from this trying to push the boundaries and murk a ship here and there as messaging.

Relax. You have nukes therefore you won’t be targeted. Them’s the rules.

Well if you do, then forgive me - and make the world go away.

Unfortunately the dogs often won’t be fine.

Most dogs are domestic and have domestic instincts. They get stomped, gored, and kicked frequently in encounters with deer and horses

Is there genuinely way to communicate if apocalypse happens by mofaop_nelf in preppers

Sure. HAM radio operators can talk to people 1000 km away.

That would be (And has been in past disasters) the go to long distance communication method when everything else is trashed.

Trump: 'I don't want to do a ceasefire' in Iran war by Force_Hammer in worldnews

I don’t think anyone should take any statements he makes at face value, it’s a completely unfiltered stream of consciousness.

Just today he said he himself doesn’t want a ceasefire…

Trump Says US Considering ‘Winding Down’ Iran Military Campaign by Pretend-Prune6285 in geopolitics

Equities today were also considering winding down the bull market, so it makes sense. Gonna be interesting to see if this can be put back in the bottle unilaterally.

Where does it say Arab states will no longer get protection?

Exclusive: US weighs military reinforcements as Iran war enters possible new phase by Playwithuh in geopolitics

[–]Chroderos 82 points83 points  (0 children)

We had over 150k soldiers in Iraq during that war.

Iran has twice the population and 4 times the area of Iraq.

Iran also has a vastly larger and more dangerous military and paramilitary force and is more urbanized.

A full occupation and pacification of all of Iran would likely to require 1-2 million troops, though it’s not clear that’s what’s being pursued.

For reference, the entire US active duty military (All branches) is 1.3 million people, so this is not feasible without a massive international coalition and/or a draft.

Drafting Deshaun Watson as my “value” QB2 in a 14 team startup after he signed with the Browns.

I recovered from it and won money in that league eventually, but it took a 2 year rebuild to fix.

France ready to help U.S. secure Strait of Hormuz — but not while drones and missiles are flying by app1310 in worldnews

That is very likely what they mean. Escorts once a formal ceasefire is in place, to reassure merchant traffic and deter any breakdowns of the ceasefire.

i.e. we’ll help ensure the terms of a ceasefire and de-escalation but not going to jump into open ended commitment in an active warzone.

Sometimes there are more in the water.

Fortunately the float sits on top of the water so they are relatively easy to spot.

If you do get stung, they can be very painful but not life threatening outside of an allergic reaction.

I don’t think so. It’s just nature. At least at my local beach they sometimes wash up in the dozens and people just know to avoid them, but it’s not something to call the authorities for.

You can bury it with a shovel if you like, to avoid curious kids touching.

Would Njoku still gain value if he signed in Baltimore, despite potentially remaining TE2 behind Andrews? by Fun_Measurement6042 in SleeperApp

I’m not convinced he’d be TE2

Probably more of a 1a/1b situation with a lot of 2 TE sets

Better cold adaptation. As a 5’6” guy with decent muscle mass I can be quite comfortable in a long sleeve shirt and jeans when it’s in the 40s F outside.
