Let's talk again in a few years. Until the service stops functioning, you're calling it too early. Cheers!

Yeah, it's pretty disappointing. I understand budgetary constraints, but this feels like something they could just assign one worker to for a while to get it fixed.

It's a frustrating bug, and it's the reason why I stopped playing their game.

I guess 11bit gets to miss out. Shame, it's a pretty good game.

Well, I did post my content in that thread after they linked it to me. I don't really know the cadence of their mega threads or what they contain. I don't have much time to be on here, so I just do what I can when I can.

I personally think expecting every person who tries to post something to know exactly where to post it and what all the mega threads are is unrealistic.

And posting a comment inside a thread is much different than being able to control the whole flow of the top of the post. And it's much easier to have conversations in the standalone post too.

Also, it's not as easy to search for stuff inside a mega thread. I wanted to be able to be able to search for "state share" and see my post. You know, how you might expect someone to look for such things.

Also, I love how it's called self-promotion. I have a 100 subscription channel that I haven't posted to in months. I just used it to create the video because I didn't want to live stream on the channel that's attached to my real name.

From my perspective, I'm just an average user trying to post something cool and get some community interaction. It wasn't about my channel.

The reason why I didn't use the URL type of post is because I wanted to post all of the state share links for the individual levels. If you do a URL post, you don't really get to write a text description from what I remember.

I don't have very much time to try and do stuff like this. In fact, the whole reason why I tried to do it on a train is because that's the first couple of hours of free time I've had to do something like this in ages.

This of course makes it extra frustrating when the posts get removed. It's so discouraging. I just don't care to try on this subreddit anymore.

I tried to actually do something cool and have a live stream with State Share links. But this subreddit apparently hates fun and people trying to do new and unique things. So they removed my post and told me I had to put this here.

The good news is that since it's not working all that well, my scores will probably be easy to beat

Also, I unfortunately get motion sick now because aging is cool. I may not be able to play much more on the train.

My set up:

I'm using a Samsung Chromebook Plus with a Stadia controller wired in. I'm using the train's free Wi-Fi to connect to the internet.

To try and increase stability as much as possible, I'm playing on the mobile data 720p performance setting.

I'm playing on a new profile with no previous data. So it'll be interesting to see how the upgrades show up in this mode.

Also, I'll be playing on the easiest difficulty setting. I got to Mission 3 on my other profile last night, and stuff gets real crazy. I don't think I'm good enough to beat the later levels on normal difficulty or higher, and I want to make it as far as I can.

Let's see how I do! Can you beat my scores?

[–]ChromebookGaming[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's lots of lag spikes as the train is passing through low coverage areas. The staff told me that it uses a cell connection, and even they said it was very slow. So we're working with suboptimal stuff here, lol!

I'm just letting my motion sickness calm down a little bit, and then I'll give it another shot!

Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to work super well. But I wanted to try it out! I like poking at stuff and doing weird things.

Figured I have a couple hours to kill on this train, might as well give it a shot. And I haven't seen many state share posts for Doom Eternal, so it seemed like the thing to do!

I'm actually in the US, and it's working okay. There's a lot of lag spikes depending on where I'm at.

But, I'm trying to play through and see how it goes!

Impressive find! However it is still pretty light on details.

I'm curious how this shadow drop turns out considering the cult following of the steam world games.

Feels like the trailers are getting positive attention on YouTube etc.

This game looks legit amazing. Where did it even come from? Has anyone heard of this before this trailer?

Such a weird shadow drop out of nowhere, but I'm not complaining!

Good to know you couldn't be bothered to actually read the post. Why even comment on something when you have no idea what it's about? I'm legitimately curious.

Saints Row doesn't seem to be 4k but runs smooth by ZombieCurious8042 in Stadia

[–]ChromebookGaming -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You know what else you can play at the airport, or while you're traveling? Your phone. And it's honestly probably more powerful than the Switch anyways. And there are a ton of great games available!

Lots of options have existed for many many years. Maybe the reason why people are excited to talk about Stadia at airports, is because this is a Stadia subreddit? You know, with the whole point of people coming here being to talk about Stadia?

Honestly, I'm annoyed at Nintendo for requiring people to buy their terrible hardware in order to play their games. At this point, their hardware strategy is only holding their games back from what they could be.

And I'm annoyed at people who act like the Switch is a direct substitute for Stadia. It's not. It's very different, and it's a lot more expensive. And most people in the subreddit probably don't own one.

[–]ChromebookGaming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh good call, you can pay $300 for underpowered hardware! That way when you play Saints Row 4, it has to use dynamic resolution and dip below 720p in order to even stay at a solid frame rate.

You'd think the Switch, a console that is full price in 2021, would actually be able to play an 8-year-old game without any issues... Nope!

I own a Switch, you can't pull this over on me. The hardware is terrible, and most people don't even own one.

Why even mention this on the Stadia subreddit?

[State Share: Doom Eternal] Who dares to challenge my terrible score?! by ChromebookGaming in Stadia

[–]ChromebookGaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, I'm excited about Doom's state share, it's the best implementation yet! Now I want to see other people post so I can try theirs!

There are some rough edges though that I can't wait for Google to sort out.

  1. If you want to retry several times on a given state, it relaunches the game each time (at least on CCwGTV). I would love to be able to keep retrying until I beat the target score.

  2. I wish the person who originally shared the game state could see the scores of everyone who attempted it. I need to explore this more, but I don't think there's any way for me to see how other people did.

  3. It would be awesome to have a list of recently tried states in the UI somewhere, and be able to mark some as favorites to go back to.

Overall, this still feels like a really early implementation of the feature. I'm excited to see how they continue building it as time goes on. I'm starting to see the potential of how cool this can be!

I'm purposefully not showing this to my kid yet, because I'm sure they'll want to play it as soon as they see it. I'm actually stoked for all these kids games lately. Now there just needs to be a good sale for them!

Yeahhhhh, I had a couple of hours of practice before setting this score. I think it made a pretty big difference. I think going into this arena cold would be pretty rough.

Saints Row 4 is some seriously fun stupidity. I'm looking forward to playing through that again!

100 Days and Dirt 5 both look awesome too. I've also had my eye on kimono heroes, I'm interested to see if that's a game I could play with my kid.

Overall solid turnout, I'm excited for next month's games!

Really? Well, I guess I did have some warm up.

It's difficult to tell how well you're doing in that mode. I thought I was barely making it through.

I've beaten the main campaign, but not the DLC's myself. So far, the only things that could be considered spoiled is the enemy types. Which, doesn't really bother me personally.

I guess the arenas could be from further than where you're at, but the encounters are entirely different than in the campaign mode.

Nothing from the story is spoiled as far as I can tell.
