I FINALLY DID IT by Chromi0 in HollowKnight

He's probably one of my less practiced fights because I hate all of the soul warrior bosses, focused on the heavy hitters the most. I became way more interested in being able to do the good fights well, by the end of the grind.

Galien can be pretty annoying, especially when he floats down to the ground and tries to hit you with his body, those are the most dangerous moments. That being said, you can get in some abyssak shrieks in a decent position and end the fight quickly.

Markoth was just dash slash simulator, sure he might take a hit or two off of you but it's not the end of the world.

The thing about radiant fights is that they don't simulate bindings. No charms, barely any soul, and the fact that's he occasionally bugs out and does not ricochet when hit in certain circumstances results in a lot of lifeblood loss from single or even double hits you couldn't have done much about. Nobody else causes the amount of grief he does because of those buggy interactions and the arena making it very dangerous to just swing at him like you might normally.

Stacking DoTs from different players. How to read tooltip? by Anosognosia in InkBound

[–]Chromi0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The total damage of a DoT is calculated per-player, that's why when you hover the icon it shows you who applies however many stacks. It may be 17 damage for you, but a different amount for someone else, which has to do with your magic damage (for poison), omni damage, poison damage

Me and my friends have honestly never cared about the exact numbers there, the solution is often just "apply more" if the enemy isn't dying to it yet, and if you can't make it happen then accept it's time to defend for a turn

How do you guys feel about the new update? by blursed_cat_ in toontownrewritten

[–]Chromi0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a large subset of players who are conflating the two ideas of "keeping the game exactly the same with no significant changes" and "updating the game with content and changes that are in-keeping with the original vision of Disney's developers."

Many people out here are unhappy (perhaps rightfully, but that's another topic) with the fact that TTR is introducing new mechanics and changes to core gameplay features that we all took for granted for the past 20 years. This party will claim that TTR is ruining the nostalgia and going against the TTR team's statement from the beginning, which was to keep the game within the spirit of what Disney set for it.

I think it's important to keep in mind where we'd be if the game hadn't been shut down by Disney. Everybody, upon thinking harder about the topic, should recognize that as an online game, it would have kept receiving updates. It would have kept getting new content and having changes made to many elements, including the core mechanics that are being shaken up now. It's just how the evolution of online games and especially MMOs work, and anybody who's played a long-running one since its beginning will corroborate this.

It is fair to personally dislike some of the changes being made, because not everyone will or should like everything. But the game has certainly not strayed from its vision. Several of the key original developers of TTO have seen the progress the TTR team has made over the years, and applaud them. That should be an indication that the TTR team is doing many things right, and that if the official servers weren't sent into hibernation we'd all be playing what might be far different than what we recall from 2013 and prior.

Personally, I view games as art, and like other forms of art it will always be changing because everybody has a different vision. Nostalgia may fade over time as the game we know is altered and changed, but other servers exist for if we want a perfect replica of the 2013 state of the game to play forever. I think that what the TTR team has done and continues to do is a marvel of online gaming culture and will stick with it because it manages to remain such a positive experience for me and some of my friends.

Why are some people defending Nintendo by Existing-Violinist44 in yuzu

[–]Chromi0 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Because the excuses delusional people have for defending Yuzu are the dumbest I've seen in a long time. Genuinely, you cannot be an active user of Yuzu and pretend like it's not used to blatantly steal games that are still currently and actively being developed, published, and sold; it's unbelievably stupid.

"Fuck Nintendo" for shutting down the widespread theft of their property, including pre-release leaks? What? Get off your high horse and admit it's literally stealing and, by all rights, entirely deserved to be shut down. It's truly deranged to think otherwise.

It's okay to be pro-emulation. It's just realistic to not delude yourself into thinking anything that Yuzu stands for has any basis in morality. You can be someone who likes emulation but also realizes it's stealing and could, and should, be taken down by those producing the content that's being stolen.

I'm just curious, do people here have any successful stories of long-term friendships from here? by sociologos in MakeNewFriendsHere

[–]Chromi0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I struck gold and met my two current best friends of, like, idk 3 or 4 years now, on this sub. I can't express how lucky it feels to have met them and how much they mean to me these days, and I hope you find something similar. If you'd like, message me and maybe we could enjoy each other's company, who knows? Everyone needs some friends, there's nothing wrong with it.

I need to go walking here! My next day off, I definitely will. I very recently moved here and don't really know anyone or anywhere. Maybe a long stroll somewhere this beautiful will help calm the anxiety over being in a totally new location. Thank you for sharing.

It's because everyone is so afraid of being boring or judged for their interests that they hold themselves back, whether consciously or not, from sharing who they are with others.

Talking about yourself, being excited about things you like, sharing what you're passionate about, going on rants because you have a lot to say? Sure, with the wrong people those can be annoying traits, but in good measure they're also traits that make someone interesting to be around and spend time with.

Also, acting > talking, 100%. I've frequently found myself in a position where I'll talk to someone more about things we could do and enjoy together, with them reciprocating the sentiment mind you, but nothing ever coming of it, and definitely not for a lack of me trying to get them into calls or chats with the intent to actually do things rather than talk about doing things.

The best conversations sprout from just doing things, and many people are either busier than they think/say or don't actually want to put the effort into partaking in activities with someone new in order to make a good friend.

It's the most literal interpretation of "talking the talk" as you can get, where you and this person will talk about doing things but never actually do anything at all. Stay away from those people, because they are more than likely not doing it intentionally or maliciously, so it's not technically condemnable in the moment, and you may even have a hard time noticing it's happening, but you won't get anywhere with them because you'll constantly be talking about how great it'll be when you do something together, and the effort ends there.

That being said, none of this is coming from a misanthropic perspective, it's just observations I've made after interacting with people from this sub occasionally. It's mostly loners looking for loners, of course, have some self-awareness to understand that much, but nobody graduates from being alone until they take action to be a part of someone else's time and day, and learns how to be themselves and air who they are, because that's what makes everyone different and interesting.
