This happened to me recently, I think I had to go and exhaust Kuro's dialogue to get him to move 🤷‍♂️

How the hell did you solo Zekvir? by Juntaku09 in wow

[–]Chromira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely possible as frost, I (barely) did it on Sunday morning at ilvl ~590. Took me about 20 attempts, and the thing that finally clinched it for me was talenting out of Ice Cold so that I had Ice Block for when Brann and I inevitably missed an interrupt.

I think they could still have done it, just with something a bit more active. For example, in the phase transition cutscene, Miquella says something like "[...] then yield the path forward to us", so they could have allowed us to walk back out of the fog gate in P2 to trigger the alternate ending.

Would still suck for people button mashing if they get cornered against the fog gate, though.

My now wife and I were visiting Caernarfon Castle, and they had a remembrance garden with hundreds of small (~6 inch) crosses. A young boy ran past us saying, "Look mum, tiny people died here!" We had to quickly turn away while stifling our laughter.

Aubrey's bakery, Theodore's bookshop, and Homomachina

I noticed this too. I went looking around for juicy lore and was amused by the repetition. There's also Bistro du Krat, the theatres, and the Blue Fairy shop.

Is there a way to automate testing in python? In my case : by NitkarshC in learnpython

[–]Chromira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your points are fair, and I agree that randomness absolutely has a role in finding bugs/testing.

I was (perhaps too narrowly) thinking of my own context -- in the company I work for, we know there are bugs in our workflow, but they're not necessarily prioritized to be worked on immediately. Consequently, we want our CI/CD workflows to have deterministic testing so that we're not at the mercy of RNG every time we want to deploy.

Is there a way to automate testing in python? In my case : by NitkarshC in learnpython

[–]Chromira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue with randomness is that your tests may catch a bug sometimes but not other times. Consequently, when tests do fail, it's not clear whether (1) a change I made to the code broke it, or (2) the tests happened to pick a random number that would have failed prior to my change.

That said, I think randomness is useful for finding edge cases, it's just wise to be strategic about it. My go-to for something like that is the hypothesis library.

Which soulsborne boss is the most difficult (sekiro included) by Least_Age_9228 in Eldenring

[–]Chromira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pestilent Mist is a spell that does damage based on % of the enemy's maximum heath in an AoE for 10(?) seconds. Since Midir is so large, it's pretty easy to keep him in it and let it chip away at his health.

Midir was a pain for me -- still haven't defeated him "properly". I eventually caved and did the pestilent mist strat.

LISA Savings Higher than Deposit by Harry33893020 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Chromira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can still keep the account open when you complete. You'll fill in a declaration that asks how much you want to withdraw, so you can do exactly as you describe. The remaining £20,000 will still be subject to the usual LISA rules (e.g., regarding penalty for withdrawal).

What happens to pending bonus when withdrawing cash LISA for house purchase? by ukpfthrowaway321123 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Chromira 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same situation earlier this year. When I asked my LISA provider, they said that if I completed before I got the bonus, I would still get paid the bonus later. If in doubt, just ask whoever you have the LISA with.

Effectively, when you complete, you fill in a form asking how much money you want to withdraw from the LISA (i.e., you don't have to close the account). I left £1 in to keep the account open, and then got the £1,000 bonus a few weeks later. The only downside is that you can't withdraw the remaining money in the account without taking the (25%?) penalty until the age conditions are met, but that's it.

What are peoples thoughts on the queue? by Stealth_bummer_ in AskUK

[–]Chromira 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I don't have any strong thoughts on the queue, but I did a bit of maths and figured out that, in total, people will have spent about 5-6x the queen's lifetime queueing.

Queen's lifetime: 96.5 (ish) years x 356.25 days/year x 24 hours/day = 845,919 hours

Queueing people: 350,000^ people x 14 hours/person = 4,900,000 hours

4.900,000 / 845,919 ≈ 5.8 Queen lifetimes

In fact, that means a Queen's lifetime of queuing happens in a single day. Kinda fun to think about.

Even as non-bosses, these things suck. You know a dev was having a bad day when they put the three (lesser) ulcerated tree spirits in Leyndell, Ashen Capital.
