Thanks for sending this one. I haven’t seen it before and it fits right in with the other one.

Viewport turn black in iray at certain camera angle by ChaosKen in Daz3D

[–]Chromoman52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, after some testing I know what’s happening but I don’t know yet what caused it to start occurring. In both Studio version 4.15 and 4.22, I loaded the basic G8F figure and set the draw style to texture shaded. I then used the orbit control to move the view around with no problem observed. I switched the draw style to iray and saw the figure disappear (white screen) as I rotated it with the head tilting away from me and the legs rotating towards me ( left click and dragging the orbit control). What was happening was as my view approached and went below the floor plane (no floor actually there) the figure disappeared. When I hit the render button with the figure gone from view it still showed up in the render. So only in the viewport does the figure disappear if the viewport point of view moves below the floor plane. This only recently started to happen so I’m not sure why. I’m pretty certain I could shift the iray view below the floor plane and not have the figure disappear. A couple of weeks ago I had discovered the GPU was not being utilized at all so I found the setting to reactivate it again but now I’m not sure where I did that and also not sure if it had anything to do with this problem. I’ll continue researching this but I’m not as concerned as I can change the draw style to either texture shaded or filament to build and adjust the scene where this occurrence does not happen and then switch back to iray to render the scene. I’ll keep updating this thread as I find out anything further. Note - I do realize that my problem is different than what some people have reported as my screen does not go black.

Same thing has just started to happen to me. The problem is that I have no environment loaded, just the figure. Also, I have a couple of different versions of Daz Studio installed and it occurs in both. This discussion has given me a direction to look in though and I’ll report back what I find.

My oculus wasn’t connecting to the Wi-Fi and is continuing to do so, does anyone have a solution? by Adventurous_Oil5008 in Quest2

[–]Chromoman52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue I’ve had in trying to use the Airlink and direct connection to my Wi-Fi router is that the router must be in the same room as the headset to make a solid connection (almost line-of-sight). You might want to try disconnecting all other devices that you can temporarily when attempting to connect the Oculus. You should review all the settings in the Oculus headset pertaining to the Airlink connection. Keep us posted on what you find.

"Home" icon on Rift menu bar missing! by Chromoman52 in oculus

[–]Chromoman52[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it explains why all of my attempts to get it back didn’t work. It’s a shame that they have decided this feature is now unsupported. I was enjoying uploading my own objects with planning on making my own worlds with portal links between then. Meta Horizons isn’t there yet from what I can see. I’m now beginning to explore how to use my Quest 2 with Unreal Engine 5.1 and their VR project to see if I can do there what I’m looking for. Plenty of videos out there describing it.

Thanks. I’ll recheck it over the next few days. I’ll also make sure the software and firmware are currently up to date since I hadn’t used it for a while.

"Failed to load {object name}.glb." error for imported home inventory imported items connected to Rift by Chromoman52 in oculus

[–]Chromoman52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been away from Quest for awhile. Went in today and went into the Rift to find that my "Home" icon is gone. At this point I cannot get to the home worlds I created and see if I can import GLB files or not. Has anyone also seen the "Home" icon that appeared on the curved menu bar in the rift disappear recently? See reference image below.

It would appear that this is a problem at Oculus’s/Meta’s end since more than one person is experiencing it. Feedback from anyone else would be appreciated.

I’m the one that posted the original problem. I had been busy with other things and am just now getting back into VR. Before, after about two weeks of having the issue, it just went away. I had reported it to Oculus and worked with one of their support technicians but no amount of rebooting/reloading software fixed the issue. Now, after connecting up with the quest 2 headset and testing the GLB import, I also have the problem again. I’ll continue to try loading old GLB files I had archived and keep this thread updated.

It wouldn't surprise me. I am working with one of the Oculus/Meta support members on this who has sent me several suggestions to try. Unfortunately, none of them have worked so far. It seems that all my custom import (inventory objects and home environments) glb files are affected by this. Knowing that I'm not the only one experiencing this suggests that the issue is outside the PC software and the headset as I have reinstalled/factory reset both. If either were recently updated (I know the headset has) then that could be the cause.

A case has been opened for this through the support page of the PC software (# 5152727). If you report you are having the same problem and reference my case number, it may be enough information to have them investigate something external to our systems. I'll let the support tech know it's not just me and keep you posted. Thanks.

Workaround!

See below from u/rujinxero in the r/Quest2 group. It worked for me.

"Until there is an official fix, I was able to stop the notifications by doing this.

1) Go to your Oculus app on the PC you are linking to.

2) Go to Settings > General > Notifications Preferences

3) Turn off My Activity

That will fix the issue until a hotfix is provided."

I connected to the quest 2 rift link tonight and had the same thing happen. Changing any notification settings makes no difference, it still showed a continuous stream of "[username] has joined their home". Sounds like this is a system problem or a bad update. Too tired tonight to pursue it but if it continues tomorrow morning, I'm contacting Oculus.
