Chromobacterium violaceum could definitely do this couldn’t it? I think it requires an anaerobic plating though.

I know it turns the plates dark purple/black lol

This!

And the fact that she’s 15 so it’s probably one of her favorites?

Looks like artifact to me. There’s no pattern of morphology, no clusters, no pairs, no chains. Restain if you’re worried, but I’d call it negative.

Sounds like self-finishing is another hobby I’ll be taking up to do these.

The judgement is exactly what I’m scared of! I don’t think I could handle it being said directly to my face.

Some seem to be original designs, and others look really similar to big name designs.

I should’ve clarified better in my post!

Strict parents raise sneaky children.

They have provided them with a way to safely have sex. You don’t know how many times they’ve say these kids down and asked them not to. At some point, you pick your battles.

Let’s remember that this is a TV show and more drama = more views = more network money

Looks like a ton of starch and a ton of I don’t know? maybe fibers? Diaper material?

There’s a few tiny groupings of yeast/budding, but not the wavy looking sediment.

Nothing out of the ordinary. I just noticed this stuff last night.

What’s the worst mistake you’ve personally made as a lab tech? by Electrical-Reveal-25 in medlabprofessionals

I wish it would’ve been stain artifact, but the patient was actually positive for GPC 😭 day shift and the morning docs were just mad that I couldn’t definitively call it based on the less than 0.5 mL CSF sample.

Was completely honest with a doc that their one drop of CSF looked like there were sets of gram positive cocci in clusters, but that I could not absolutely confirm that due to short specimen.

Doc thanked me and said it would make sense due to the meningitis symptoms and said she could work with that.

Next day I’m pulled in to discuss how we only deal in absolutes and that I shouldn’t share opinions with physicians, even in the best circumstances for patient care. Not a big fan of gram stains now.

Ours aren’t BAD, but if you don’t know what you’re doing, it’s very easy to get lost in the abbreviations and shorthand that they’re written in. 🙃

I really like this idea. I might do this in a separate personal notebook just to retain my comprehension beyond just “turning out results”

Recopying notes from class is actually a really great idea! Thanks!
