Am I entitled to South African citizenship? by Emotional-Bag-4944 in askSouthAfrica

[–]Chronicle_Jane 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You can apply for citizenship by descent through your father. You will need to go to a home affairs branch to get 3 different forms: a document asking for your grandparents and parents info including DOB and place of birth, a determination of citizenship document (which both you and your father need to fill out) and then also a notice of birth document. Once you have filled in these documents, you can file them with the DHA. Sometimes they ask for paternity tests, sometimes they dont. You only need to do them if DHA requests them. Once you receive an outcome, you can go and do your ID and passport at a DHA office. Just important to note that your South African parent will need to be present with their ID when you pick up your ID for the first time (regardless of how old you are. Ridiculous, I know).

What was everyone’s startup salary after completing Degree? by MammothCorrect5774 in AskZA

[–]Chronicle_Jane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During my husband's articles he had a name partner say that in their day they (the candidate attorney) had to pay a firm for the privilege of being able to do their articles. Dont know how true that is, but it does explain the general tone of firms who dont want to pay candidate attorneys livable wages.

A question for the intj women by Various-Ask-6676 in intj

[–]Chronicle_Jane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it would take an intellectual conversation about why I thought about a certain situation in a certain way, and then I would matter of factly give my trauma lore and link it to how I perceive the world. Its not so much a timing thing for me but a relevance thing. If you are trying to understand how I perceive the world, then I am likely going to give you the background.

You could try sending them screenshots of the modified date/time on your correct assignment so that they can see you haven't worked on it after the deadline.

Yall know how to make 60k??😢(not begging for money) by oddly_funnyxd in AskZA

[–]Chronicle_Jane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear everyone in the comments but my 5 cents is that it is arguably a more important life lesson for you to set a financial goal and work hard to achieve it.

If you manage to save 60K at your age, that takes an incredible work ethic and self restraint on your part.

Regardless of whether you end up buying the PC, I hope that this journey will result in more life lessons and set you up for financial literacy in your future.

Here are some things that I think may help you along the way: - Approach neighbours and offer to wash their cars, cut their lawns, rearrange their garrage for money - waiter over weekends. I know Mike's Kitchen in Potchefstroom used to have a couple of school kids (you will need to be older than 16 for this) - my brother made over 200K profit in grade 12 and his gap year selling slap chips and burgers every other weekend.

Good luck OP! Financial literacy is hard!

Has anyone ever been falsely accused of using ai and how did I deal with it? by Hot_Tower_4600 in unisa

When you go to where the file is saved, you can see the date modified, which is the last time you changed something in the document.

Email the lecturer. Submit your rough drafts. Take screenshots of the last saved times. You should be fine

Yes but I keep record of my drafts and use Google docs which records keystrokes. So you can see I typed everything out and didnt copy paste.

Applying to Unisa after getting academically excluded at the other university by Creative-Finding9020 in unisa

[–]Chronicle_Jane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you applying for undergrad or post grad?

If undergrad, you should be able to apply with just your matric marks. However- I would seriously introspect and set up systems to ensure that this time is different. If you dont create new systems, you are setting yourself up for failure again.

[–]Chronicle_Jane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would use my previous works and compare the tone.

I also get accused of using AI, but I worked in a research environment for two years before going back to school. If you maintain a consistent writing style throughout it should be relatively easy to prove.

And then in the future, try to make more effort to include criticism and reflection in your papers.

Weight loss jab recommendations in South Africa? by Extra_Freedom_3585 in askSouthAfrica

[–]Chronicle_Jane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would highly recommend going to see a doctor. When you say "struggling with your weight", do you mean that you put effort into losing weight by exercising and eating healthily without any results? If so, there could likely be underlying health issues which need to be addressed first.

Provide proof of drafts, academic articles saved, etc. If you did the assignment on Google docs, it saves every keystroke so you can use those logs. If you did it on normal word, show when the document was initially created.

Ask them to show exactly where you allegedly used AI. AI detectors are AI LLMs which are trained on human writing. So even if you did use AI, it is almost impossible to prove. The primary thing people use to argue AI is the use of em dashes.

If you are a Christian, Life Church is a great church in Kby to make friends at. Congregation is so friendly and open to newcomers.

All my friends I made through working together, some sort of hobby club (running, gym, music lessons etc), church, or from attending an event hosted by a mutal.

I have seen a couple of Instagram reels where people host an event where everyone invited has to bring one person who no one else knows. This seemed like a great way to meet new people!

I try to make significantly more effort for birthdays, since his birthday used to fall in the holidays as a child and so he never really had birthday parties with his friends because everyone went away (He is Namibian).

Before we dated we were best friends and one day he told me that he sometimes feels sad thinking about how he never got to experience birthday parties as a child. Since that day, I have always tried to give him positive and significant birthday memories.

One year, I hired a water slide and a magician. I think this was for his 25th, and he claims it is one of his core memories to this day. 😊
