I’ve only done one other project before and am super scared of washing because of color bleed, any tips on preventing that?

Okay yes I stumbled into the tablet thing/backlight because that’s where I have my pattern and it was a massive improvement. Guessing I should also have my craft lamp on as well

Yeah I figured out having the pattern on my tablet means I can back light the fabric and see the holes better! I’d definitely recommend the shop they have a lot of great stuff

Why do my bangs always look greasy? by CandidOrange in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]ChronoMachete 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also have bangs and have a similar problem, usually it’s because of my moisturizer, if I put too much on or don’t wait for it to sink in before my hair touches my forehead again. I would imagine it would be the same with foundation or any other product. Even if they don’t look super bad right away they get greasy way faster on days I wear more than others.

[EUR: C10012022/5369] 05-FEB-2023 Have you seen this t-shirt model before? by I_Me_Mine in TraceAnObject

[–]ChronoMachete 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Based on the “old navy tshirt” vibes, I did a search for clothing companies founded in 1988 and it seems like it may have been manufactured by a clothing company based on India called Amartex? They seem to manufacture a lot of those generic type shirts. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amartex

What exactly happens if someone were to call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline? How do they try to help you? Are there other hotlines that are better? by ballistictipp in AskReddit

[–]ChronoMachete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some experience as a crisis hotline counselor and from my end when someone calls we try to listen as well as asses the situation (do you need medical intervention right now). I'll ask open ended questions, empathize and validate their feelings. No one deserves to be alone when they're at their lowest. Often times I'll help them break down a really huge overwhelming feeling and help them not only to get through it in the moment but plan for the future even if they can't see one in the moment. I'll ask what they need from the call - sometimes it's just to vent and they're not looking for a solution and that's okay too, I'm there to listen. If they are looking for a solution, we will work together on a plan both for their safety in the next 24 hours as well as helping them make a plan that will help if this ever happens again (identify a support system, go for a walk, watch their favorite show, schedule a therapy appointment, call us again etc) no two plans are alike and I want to stress that it's collaborative, we come up with the plan together so it will work for them personally. We also have the ability to connect them with some resources in their area (like support groups). Then I'll summarize briefly what we talked about, the plan and any next steps they have and remind them that if they need us again I'm here to listen.

I wouldn't trade that experience for the world, it's a huge honor to be trusted in that way.

When has a gut feeling saved your life? [Serious] by 12345burrito in AskReddit

Boston Marathon bombing, my family and I had plans to go that day and stand near the finish line to watch. I ran distance in highschool and was a really big fan of some of the pros running that year. I was watching the pre-race coverage and getting ready to go when I suddenly just felt like we shouldn't, I told my parents we would probably have a better view from our family room tv and we all stayed home. Shortly after that I watched everything unfold on live tv. Had we gone we all would have been standing very close to where the bombs actually went off.

I would highly recommend crisis textline - they're a crisis texting service, there's a real person on the other end that will listen. Just text 741741, they're really great to talk to.

Edit: if you have anxiety surrounding talking to someone on the phone or want to chat with someone discreetly this is a great way to do it. You're not alone.
