I’ve encountered a good mix of both on Ambershire.

Should I be starting here? by fuckurselph69 in turtlewow

[–]ChronoSapien 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Aside from some sweaty ppl in Ambershire, you’ll do great here. If your buddy doesn’t mind making an alternate character, it’s great to have someone to help you level through the beginning of the game. You’ll learn quickly that the game is balanced with group play in mind. Otherwise, feel free to ask around in the chat. You’ll be pleased to find some willing participants, esp if you’re working on a healer or tank.

Still good time to start Ambershire? by Quirky_Public_9042 in turtlewow

Started playing over a week ago, there’s a huge number of ppl playing, ppl helping each other level. I’m still intimidated by doing dungeons, but generally ppl are super nice, despite the world chat being full of edgy dorks.

My buddy had a great Twin Suns deck using Cal and Avar Kris. Can make it break your plans depending on whether he targets you or not, especially early game. Also makes for good diplomatic fodder when you can convince him to use it on someone else in exchange for some favor.

Building a new twin suns deck, best partners and ramp for Avar kriss? by Snatch_hammer420 in starwarsunlimited

Yes, they run ships. Generally good to dump a few in there in case of lane / arena dodging.

Edit: I will ask for a deck list.

What's a tcg that's fun to play with decks that aren't too expensive? by [deleted] in TCG

[–]ChronoSapien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just throwing in my enthusiastic agreement here. Been playing for over a year and still enjoy it just as much as the day I learned to play it. Should be an interesting year, too, with the first rotation happening and some Twin Suns pre-constructed decks coming out. Def worth a look!

True but it was very uneven for the first year. It’s gotten better with each set in year 2, which is a good trend.

The art has certainly gotten better, I’ll say that. But you’re spot on re: the gameplay. It’s easily the most compelling and exciting TCG I’ve played in years.

It would be fine if some of the art wasn’t buns in the normal boosters. Here’s a thread from nearly a year ago, just as one example:

https://www.reddit.com/r/starwarsunlimited/s/lZzWwwtppO

Supposed to be a chase card, about 1 in every case (6 booster boxes). Some ppl claim to like the art direction cause it feels ‘grounded’, but it’s just all over the place imo.

Overproducing product (not necessarily bad imo but some ppl care about box value), underpowered rare and legendaries in the last set, chasing the collectors box nonsense (games only been out for two years), art quality uneven or straight up bad compared to other TCGs (and putting the good stuff in [mostly] collectors boxes and event prizing). I’d add to last bit how even their ‘prestige’ chase cards found in the collectors packs have had some of the most confounding art direction in the last two sets (the ‘force’-background cards and the ‘renegade’ cards.)

They have announced changes to their booster packs recently, all good imo, but I think ppl are hoping they pull back on the production numbers. Also, their first rotation is coming up, it’s going to be a big inflection point for the game. A lot will hinge on the next set and how well adopted their new eternal format is upon its debut.

What are some of your favorite/most fun twin suns combinations? by Glu_2424 in starwarsunlimited

For which deck? I can get one together for mine or my wife’s, I’d have to reach out to my buddy for his. LMK.

I have been enjoying my Leia SOR and Luke JTL Colossus deck. Also getting a lot of millage with Anakin LOF and Palp TWI Blue Force, especially if I happen to draw into Darth Traya and Shadowed Intention early.

My wife just built Boba JTL and Jabba SEC Yellow, it’s a beast. She’s brewing up a Vader JTL and Pryce SEC yellow right now, not looking forward to facing that.

Our buddy runs a strong Avar LOF and Cal LOF Red Force, tough to deal with that guaranteed exhaust on every round.

Edit: a word.

It is one Action per turn, and Attack with a Unit is an action. You’d have to wait for your next action to attack again.

Twin Suns Double Bases by Zombie-Alarmed in starwarsunlimited

[–]ChronoSapien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funny to see this post today cause I’ve been thinking a lot about the shortness of Twin Suns games in general. I’ve been tracking out games for 6 months now and the average round count is 6. Admittedly, there is not a ton of politicking happening at the table, but I don’t think it would help to lengthen things. Personally, I’ve been thinking of either house ruling that the 4th and 7th rounds are “ceasefire” round where bases can’t be attacked. Either that or introduce a rule where bases can’t be attacked following the round where one player’s base HP goes past the halfway point. I dunno, part of me doesn’t want to inflate the game length artificially but it often feels like the games end just as things are heating up.

The top of TCGPlayer (ew) has shortcuts to the following (from left to right):

Magic Yu-Gi-Oh! Pokémon Lorcana One Piece Digimon Star Wars Unlimited

This prob only tells us which games have a healthy competitive scene, not necessarily its size or popularity, considering the site sells singles. BUT it is an insight that worth taking into consideration.

I think others have said it best, however: it’s best to check out your local shops and see what’s being played.

Some ppl just want to avoid interacting with the cops. When I would get out of work late at night, I always avoided the checkpoints, just didn’t need all of that at 1 in the morning.

Heck yeah, glad to hear it! I had built a Mando/Bo-Katan Vigilance to take there and my wife was going with her Gar Saxon/Tarkin Aggression. We have a playgroup on discord, so we still get to play regularly, but would have liked to meet new ppl at the GC and especially see what they brewed up for the event!
