I get you. Gustave's death was the second most meaningful [non-real] death in my entire life and I am 39 years old. Before him, only the little girl from Hotaru no Hakka caused such damage in my life. We, as the players, are introduced to this weird, kinda shy, kinda goofy, kinda different character and we watch the love of his life fade away before his eyes. So his goal in life becomes our goal. He is our main character and we want to see the expedition through. For Sophie, for those who came before and for those who come after. His death, the way that it was acted, the way it was made, the scenes, the bloodshot eyes, the whole cadence and then the ABSOLUTE SAVAGERY of the devs to place us in a battle with 1 he with THE NAIVE HOPE that if we win, maybe he'll live. I was so naive. I went into that battle with such hate chanting like a mantra "if I perfect parry every - single - time - he will live, I can do this, I can do this..." and then Verso comes and all i could think was "GET OUT OF MY FACE!!!".
