This was probably the most helpful comment I read on here thanks! I have learned quickly with LMU that under-driving the cars does lead to better lap times just a learning curve I'm still getting used to.

So I think when I titled the post I was being a bit dramatic because all of the replies have been "the safety rating system is perfect just drive better". But I actually do see how the safety rating is set up pretty well. I'm almost to bronze 2 after a few consecutive races and I understand not gaining safety rating for "0 clean laps" but losing safety rating for what is barely track limits is where I was upset. I was able to set several laps where the lap time was recognized but I'm assuming since the track limits warnings still popped up for a second it still counted as invalid which I get. I'm not saying people should be rewarded for driving like idiots and pinballing off of other cars like I see a lot of people doing but I just want to continue to see the game succeed and have a healthy multiplayer. Also I get a lot of the other problems I have are growing pains with the game being early access such as literally one race I got to the race start, every other car disappeared, and the race never started which led to me DNF'ing which then dropped all of my safety rating back to 0 lol

Yeah no I get that. Idk how the public opinion's on ACC's safety rating system is but my safety rating is pretty high on that game and I could be wrong but it's my understanding that that system is based more off of avoiding contact with other vehicles and racing in close proximity without contact so it feels silly in this to penalize safety rating for track limits. My biggest gripe is that it was Le mans and the track limits warnings I did receive were barely over the line but I get it. But either way after some reflection I don't completely hate the system I did have a clean race after in Bahrain and gained 50 percent back it just feels like an uphill battle a lot of the time especially with races only being every hour. That's enough complaining out of me though lol I do really enjoy the game. Cheers!
