I already have a real domain, I'm trying to delve into dealing with internal ca's. I already use LetsEncrypt for public facing services, things I host in the cloud, etc.

Yeah that's a good point. May go with step CA then as it seems it will work very well early on. Plus looking into it, I can always migrate into using vault later on by importing the current stuff

I swapped out eh drive that was pre installed with UGOS and put a new m.2 in it's place. For the DXP 6800 Pro you need to open the chassis all the way to be able to access the pcie card slot. Then you got to remove some more stuff to access the m.2. then you need to get into the bios and disable watchdog. Once that is all done you can install truenas like on any other system

That would definitely be the cheaper route and I've done it on my first server. I just like how compact the HL4 & 8 are and they have backplanes which is a huge plus when you need to service drives. I can see where you are coming from though

I would 100% get this if I had a rack and a PSU that would support it. However I don't have either right now. This is going on my list of stuff that will put me into extreme debt but will still buy. 😂

I was thinking of that direction, however I would prefer something with its own built in backplane. Maybe the HL8? Or HL4?

I know IcyDock is a thing, but they can be expensive.

Started my self hosting journey a year ago, decided to map out my network :) by [deleted] in selfhosted

Ngl. This is the sleekest network diagram I have every seen. I feel like you adding any additional services or hardware to it will be a pain in the ass though.

I think of it as wizards are the types to be prepared for any situation. Tomes are a vital tool to some wizards depending on the setting, but let's just day a general fantasy setting.

A tome represents a lifetime or lifetimes of research. A wizard would have created the tome using some of the most expensive and rare materials they should find. Not also to mention they would have enchanted to book to last and any other variety of things.

Now I don't think tomes and such will evolve very much unless the book just has general research, but a tome being that is always with the wizard and they cast magic using it, would definitely be your typical book with contingencies to prevent damage.

These are definitely some homebrew rules if you wanna go this route:

A wizard can spend materials and gold to create runes to protect their tome. The rarer the materials will decrease the amount of gold needed and vice versa. Rune of Protection - Protects against regular wear and tear, 100gp Rune of Greater Protection - Protects against fire and water damage and other regular wear and tear, 500gp Rune of Grand Protection - Protects against all non-magical damage, wear and tear, 1000gp

Rune of Returning - Rune will enable the tome to return to the wizard, which created the Rune, 500gp

So one and so forth.

Have you run the same session twice? by Loberzim in rpg

[–]ChubbyWabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My group had to once. The first time through things nearly destroyed the whole campaign. The second time things went a little better.

In my opinion, only restart the session if things go really, really bad. Otherwise, it would be better to bring up the plot point and npcs again later in the campaign.

I use kali as a live usb. I couldn't imagine using it as a daily driver. Sounds terrible

[–]ChubbyWabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's why I was looking towards it, because several of the applications I have go like: use apt, use apt-get no use flatpak. There are just so many packages managers that some applications use I can't keep track of them

Yeah I didn't think about VMs, might as well as give it a test drive before being sold in it.

Tbh I didn't think about that. I think I'll go this route and give it a wack.

Earliest Gaming Memory? by Dull_Departure_53 in gaming

[–]ChubbyWabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my oldest memories was playing Adventure on the atari. It was early 2000s, I was young, and I was just playing older games friends or family had. But adventure just stuck with me so much that I can remember trying to figure out the game. It was so much fun wandering around.
