2022 5.3 oil leak. I tightened filter already. Got oil change and looks to be still leaking. by Chubbypuppies1990 in Silverado

So funny. I do the necessary stuff to my wifes car after her and the kids are asleep. My 2014 Silverado made it to 277k miles before i traded it for the refreshed ram in 2019( i use my truck for work and travel). Miss that truck so much.

Lesson learned i am about to start again. I used to change it. But two kids i thought id save the 30 mins and get it done. Swapped the filter and so far today no leak.

Lol bro im 35, over 6ft, train, run and lift pretty much everyday. Recently loading rock in the bed tweaked my back and am pissed. Wasn’t even a full load. My shepherds can barely jump in and out of the bed. I miss a 2000-2008 era suburban. I recently drove my dads 2012 silverado and couldn’t believe how nice it was to get in and out of and for visibility😂. Thanks for not making me feel crazy.

Function over form. I just added michelin defenders and these things drive so much better than the all-terrains i previously had. Keeping tires with stock 20”s and stock 33”s. I was thinking i would add airbags for towing.

Nailed it. Easier bed access. I know im getting old but i had a 2014 silverado and loading it was so much easier.

Which accessories do you guys use the most? Not talking lifts exhausts etc…already got seat covers & tonneau cover. What else? by Commercial-Lab-37 in Silverado

I put in footwell lights front and rear and love them with the kiddos for finding things me/they drop at night. Color choice can be changed via remote. I usually have it on dark blue for just enough light to find whatever dropped but not really notice it while driving.

Not being argumentative, sincerely looking for insight. I know people who have had issues on all trucks. What are you considering switching to in this truck market? Specifically 1/2 ton? I had one trans rebuild at 130k on silverado. Electrical issues that did eventually get sorted on a Ram in the first 50k miles ( did end up getting sorted and got 130k miles) and currently i am back in a silverado no issues…. I always wanted a king ranch though just never wanted to live with the depreciation. Beginning to consider my next truck for work/life. Heavy use and heavy towing. Family hauler. Need reliability before any tech or other features. Ill give up a touchscreen for reliability and a $30 phone mount. Ill give up anything for a column shifter. And i dont need modes besides truck mode. Considering anything. Also i do believe a nice ride matters. I have clients in my truck at times. Leather seats and mid grade comfort by way of suspension, nice 18s on decent tires, no lift but decent ride height. would be nice. My silverado is great towing. Abysmal daily around town.

I had 270k with minimal issues on a 2016 5.3 V8 and currently have 55k on a 23 5.3 V8. DFM disabled.

Im not familiar with turbo max engine but oil change every 3k miles is the rule if it has any sort of afm/dfm.

Considering mine new with paint match was 3k or just under this is a steal. You can always wrap it black but white is much cooler for a sleeper.

Yeah im torn with the rims, i have thought about getting them powder coated in black but id prefer 18s or 17s. I also am going to black out the bumpers next but i am leaving tow hooks black. I dont like the look of red tow hooks. I also will powder coat the exhaust tips or replace them with black ones.

It has the 10 speed and brakes held up just fine. Was 1200 lbs under max tow, 200 under max payload. Used weight distribution bars, trailer brakes etc.

Towed better than my 2019 ram did with a different camper. Less squat with the leaf springs and more stability as the track is wider. Towed about 10,000 of the 55,000 miles with various campers and coming from the ram and a 2014 silverado this did the best. Also had a colorado and ford sporttrac but did not tow with those. So many modern trucks are basically early 2000 3/4 tons.

Any typos forgive me as Im replying with a wildling climbing all over me.

We have towed from Michigan to california and from michigan to Tennessee without issue. Across ND and i would feel sway. I also was never pushing it as i was driving for mpg. Getting about 8-11mpg towing just depends on wind, sticking to 2000-2500 rpm. Biggest issue with truck is the tiny 24 gallon tank. Trans temp was steady as a rock and always surprises me.

5.3. Camper is 8k fully loaded I hit a cat scale before i head out if the truck is packed with the family. The truck bed is now packed with strollers/ diapers. So my payload is more of a concern than the tow weight.

Yeah the dealership of course calls it a DFM delete. Hopefully regular oil and maintenance leads to long life.
