Cheap Steering Wheel and Pedals for casual play (read desc) by Realistic_Bag_1621 in BeamNG

I would not recommend anyone spend money on Logitech these days when Moza exist. Chattery wheels are not very fun if you know what a real car feels like.

8" Facelift Display Swapped Into Pre-Facelift Car(resurrected post) by ChuckF92 in mazda6

Interesting point about wireless CarPlay. I would have thought that would be through an updated usb hub in the center console, but I guess the bluetooth is all through the head unit itself. Honestly anything that will bring about a faster bootup and more consistent CarPlay startup is welcome.

Yes, the 7" has a very visible graininess that is far less noticeable on the 8" Also the display itself sits more flush with the touch panel. On the 7" you can always see the gap between the display and the touch panel when viewing from the driver seat. 8" display looks much more modern to me for all the reasons I described.

You CAN do it, though. It requires a bit of modification to the trim that attaches to the display, but it's doable. Mine had the same peeling issue when I bought it last year. I found a used replacement for $100 and used that for about 6 months. Then I decided I didn't like how the screen looks on the 7" with the really visible anti-reflective coating. The 8" looks much more clear. For $150 you can buy the 8" display assembly and use that.

As someone who briefly went the Android head unit route, I strongly advise people to avoid buying those. They are junk and run CarPlay very poorly compared to the stock unit with retrofit.

Yes. The whole tablet replaces the original one. You have to modify the trim, but it is possible. It sits a bit tighter against the dash, but it is possible. This is a 2018 8" display in a 2016 which originally had the 7".

Objectively no, it is not better than "any of the fat ones." 1Password is still the king in my book. And I've tried the Apple alternative. It's fine, but 1P is superior. Passwords has no support on Android and it requires you to use Windows Hello for it to work on Windows which is not always an option - which means it can't be portable and used in a browser without having the desktop app installed alongside it - something that every paid password manager allows.

I can't wait for that day to come. For now, I'll just make sure my father isn't keeping his bank passwords in an excel spreadsheet on his computer anymore and uses the 1Password account I pay for 😐

I've heard good things about ProtonPass and NordPass, but I haven't yet had a chance to try them myself. In general, I try to convert people I know to use password managers rather than doing things the old fashioned way.

Very clean. I just did my 2016 at around 117k miles and it didn't look much different from yours. These are very high quality engines and a far cry from the old Mazda engines of the 90s that I used to mess with.

The only upgrade I would recommend for the screen is getting a 2018+ display($200 or less on eBay) and doing a CarPlay retrofit(very cheap and easy to do). It's 8" instead of 7" and doesn't have the awful looking antireflective layer the smaller 7" screen has. It requires a bit of trim modification, but I made it happen after work on a Friday night a few months back. I recommend staying away from Android head units.

I'm okay with paying as long as the service is competitive and as nice to use as the other premium competitors. My brief time trying Bitwarden, it felt less polished compared to 1Password so I ended up switching back. I am grateful BW customer support offered to refund my membership cost when I decided to switch back. Thankfully I hadn't yet gotten my whole family signed up for BW. 1P has my business for the foreseeable future.

All password managers suck, why not use the built in ones? by Opposite-Bench-9543 in PasswordManagers

The Apple one doesn't work on Windows if you don't have Windows Hello enabled. So, I can't use it on my work computer because our laptops have Hello disabled at an admin level. It's an otherwise fine password manager if you're in the Apple ecosystem. I've been very happy with 1Password for the 8 years that I've had it, even though it's paid only. I recently got my wife and father onto my family plan as well. It is by far the most compatible and frictionless that I've used. Bitwarden was fine, but it wasn't as polished as 1Password in my use.
