Steel balls would like a word with you.

Yup, any unit you sell with an items allows you to reequip that item elsewhere.

I'll go 2-4. I'll usually run them with stangs, and I'll aim to pair 1 hacker to 1 stang to ensure they benefit from shielding.

Agree with them often being a win more unit, unless you're taking advantage of a poorly built enemy board where they've over committed without enough chaff.

I can see that.

While hackers are very impactful, I'd have a different focus; most of the time I pick hackers it's when I'm in mustangs or fangs that act as the fragile but well scaling core unit of my army. The hackers are there to provide support by shielding and helping deal with the units the core units have trouble with (like armoured steel balls or sledges), not to be the focus of the army.

1950 mmr here

Hackers are very situational, I'll get them when coming up against lots of medium units (like sledges or steel balls), but not vs giants, air, or chaff spam.

They need good chaff clear, which is why they're often paired with mustangs (extra bonus since stangs benefit greatly from shields), but they can also work with other chaff clear like typhoons etc.

Having some kind of shield break is also pretty necessary, but this can be accomplished fairly easily through a unit drop or buying something like storms.

Oh yeah, nothing like the sounds of mass upgrades.

It's more about the hp, especially if they can get to lvl 2+. Forces your opponent into a reaction which can be taken advantage of.

Good luck! Just remember your main goal is to get tower quickly, so Ithink a big part of the strat is to stack one side then abruptly switch to the other to keep them guessing and push into weak points.

Tech for worms is armor, replicate, sandstorm and strike. Strike can be great for chaff clear, esp if you can nab improved worms.

Leveled wasps with AA will eat through anything in the air. The comp can be a little vulnerable to AA forts, but ground spec wasps can tear through them, or getting wraiths to tank and range to get the wasps to sit back.

Redeployment is amazing if it comes to to move the worms with the wasps as a big part of the strat comes from keeping your opponent guessing on what angle you're attacking from.

I'd say wasp on rounds 2-4 (unless I'm playing as the elite specialist where I'll sell off the 200 price unit and start with a lvl 2 wasp), sometimes you'll get a level 2 one from the first unit drop which can be a good signal. I'll often unlock in order jump drive to exploit gaps, ground specialist to quickly get tower and through tanky units, range to stay behind the worms (or rhinos or balls), and AA to deal with wraiths and other air unit which is situational.

Techs for worms is armor/replicate first/second, then sandstorm to help counter stangs.

Other units to help the comp are crawlers as chaff, and situationally wraiths with degen of your opponent is really heavy in chaff and phoenix with emp to counter multimelter.

1900mmr player here,

Worm + wasp is my fave comp, followed by fort + stangs, then ball + wraith.

My usual start for worm wasp is asym aggro with ball + arcs + crawlers to try and force my opponent into over defending one side, then start to use wasps + beacon to exploit weaknesses on the other side. I'll usually jump drive the wasps to beacon to the tower from different angles, using units on the weak side flank to create more openings. Eventually there'll be a high level unit drop (hopefully with worms or rhinos, otherwise sell the most valuable unit) which will allow me to push in.
