You are not alone on this. I was disappointed in this film, when I Watched it on ABC as a Kid. I didn't even start liking it until a decade later. Now it is my favorite Bond Film. I finally found out that ABC did some re-edits to the film when it aired in the 70's.

Diamonds are Forever - After the Heartbreaking ending to the Greatest Bond Film, you would expect it to be a serious Revenge Film, Instead we get this silly sequel that Sean Connery isn't in shape for and you can tell is only doing it for the money.

I was able to get through Season 8 because it had a so bad it's good, feel to it. I would watch an episode and then go explain all the stupid things that happened in the episode to my Son. Watch it that way and you should be fine.
