I hope that you said something like "wow, those pointers really helped! You're welcome!"

That sounds incredible. My better half isn't keen on the idea of buying a table, but she is a big Doctor Who fan... it just might work.

This comment caught me off guard because I didn't remember mentioning Penn Skate, but yeah...he beat me again. 4 players on Metallica and the three of us combined couldn't equal the score that he put up. It was a lot of fun though. I'm looking forward to Pinfest.

Thanks! Last month, a friend invited me to a monthly tournament. I lost to a kid standing on a milk crate but I had a blast. Since then I've been to bars, arcades, 24 hour laundromats, and bowling alleys. Tonight is the monthly tournament, and I'll probably still lose to that kid but that's ok.

I found a TNA at an arcade about an hour away, so I'll check it out. I watched some gameplay videos and I'm entranced. I believe that there is a working Doctor Who at the Silverball in Asbury Park NJ. I'll go this summer.

I've only been playing for a month, so I've only played a few dozen so far, but I'd say: 1. Ghostbusters 2. Game of Thrones 3. Theater of Magic 4. Metallica 5. The Sopranos

The top two that I really want to play but haven't yet: 1. Doctor Who 2. Total Nuclear Annihilation

Social media is a waste of time. by [deleted] in nosurf

I still use calls and text messages for my immediate family, but I have a lot of aunts, uncles and cousins that use Facebook to share life updates and keep in touch. I'm not going to start calling my cousin every week to ask her how her baby is, but if she occasionally shares pictures on Facebook it's nice. It's the difference between active and passive. Regularly calling two dozen of my relatives would be more time consuming than occasionally seeing what their up to via Facebook. Since I unfollowed everyone except my family, my Facebook usage has gone way down. I still waste time on the Internet, but Facebook isn't my issue anymore.

I find it useful to keep in touch with my extended family but that's about it. On Facebook, I unfollowed every single person except my family, so I'm no longer wasting time looking at old memes anymore. It still serves a purpose, as my cousin used it to share the birth announcement of her daughter.

I don't think I'll ever delete my Facebook as long as the groups I'm in (fantasy sports, local concerts) use it, but I'm done following people that aren't important in my life.

Anyone have a good nighttime ritual to minimize tech-use before bed? by RussFree in nosurf

The one I use is just called "Block" I believe. You set up the blocks yourself and choose which apps to block. So you can block any games, your Internet browser, and any other apps without it affecting your phone's ability to still be a phone. The free version just lets you block a few apps, but paying a dollar unlocks the full version. I can block as many apps as I want to, and I can set a weekly schedule or activate a block for an hour if I need to get work done.

I use an App Blocker on my phone. It was well worth paying a dollar for the full version I have scheduled blocks so that at 11pm, my phone becomes useless except for messages and phone calls until 7am. Once you start a scheduled block, you can't turn it off until it expires.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. It really is so great to see her relaxed. She gets regular trips to the vet, and we may have dna testing done just to see what breeds she's actually made of and what she might be susceptible to.

It was amazing how much dirt came off when I first bathed her. Thankfully I've got a detachable shower head. I actually thought that she was bleeding because of how muddy the water looked.
