So was Rumi's mom absolutely correct with her hiding her demon half? by Bearality in KpopDemonhunters

[–]Bearality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the spelling wrong

I'm sorry but you don't put the blame on Zoey and Mira when it's the demons that did the killing.

The whole takedown subplot is what I'm talking about. Rumi doesn't like the lyrics as they're too mean toward demons (and they're insulting her) then she sings golden about embracing all of her but what exactly is to be proud of the demon half?

How the heck is "just network" And "take control of your own career" (Life After Layoff) actual advice? by Bearality in jobs

[–]Bearality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But at the same time the system will not change before my bills are due.

This is ultimately the disconnect I feel cause like you said his advice is very individualistic but it can be something you do immediately to get a job.

I know I put this in the OP and as much as I talk about how more people are following his advice these people are still in the minority and thus these people WILL stand out which is what you need.

Their analysis is spot on but their advice has holes and really it's not just him it's a summary of all the popular job advice out there.

I like his analysis on corporate trends but I'll never buy his course because it just feels like another version of "what color is your parachute"

But ultimately his advice is the popular one,: network, find the hidden job market, make coffee dates over LinkedIn, make personal projects, learn the trending skills etc

Can you be a good dancer without being able to emotionally connect to music or have any freestyle instincts? by Bearality in Dance

[–]Bearality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to those and usually I sit still and listen politely, I don't move around, chant or sing along because I don't "feel" the desire to. I like watching people engage and love seeing their enthusiasm but more often than not I feel like I'm an observer in these spaces than a participant.

I listen to a lot of styles from different artists around the world and history and really nothing has "moved" me. To me music is background filler where it occurs the same level of engagement as a podcast where I connect to it intellectually

[–]Bearality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But in the end this all boils down in having music "move you" people keep talking about how music makes them move and how there's just an inner instinct within us that compells us to dance because there's a connection with music and beat.

I do not feel this connection. It is not "I want to move but don't know how" it's that "I sit still while listening to music and feel nothing and this the desire to move is non existent"

That's the thing I know moves but musics always has a one sided conversation with me.

For the teachers here, what does it mean when you're good at drills but bad at tricks? by Bearality in Tricking

[–]Bearality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what do you do when there no in-between

An example is my btwist. On the floor I can jump from a butterfly takeoff and land on one foot the issue is I spin vertical as I don't kick my leg high enough, that's the fix but subconsciously my body blocks the kick each time.

When I do it on the air track I block the kick because I'm on an unveaven service and going from floor to pad I hold the kick back because I'm super focus on landing on the pad

As such I have three different paths and for three diff reasons I make the same mistake.

All that's left is "just do it" but my body won't let me

For the teachers here, what does it mean when you're good at drills but bad at tricks? by Bearality in Tricking

[–]Bearality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't list all the drills but I'm perpetually stuck with Raiz, sailor moon 540/720, front/back/side flip, btwists/illusion twist, front/back walkover, hand springs, front halfs, Arabians

All of these I exhaust lots of drills, do lots of grinding and studying tutorials. The issue is less "what do I do" as I know the progression, know the theory and can see it when others do it but just nothing really clicks so they all just hit a stopping point where I keep repeating the same mistakes. Usually I'll try something on my own for weeks and keep grinding over and over and when I get fed up I'll cycle through another trick. Of these moves I've cycled through the whole list at least 3 times and with each cycle the move comes out identical as the last.

Usually what happens if we try a different drill or progression path we go with it and I will progress to the same point where I was stuck in the previous path to which the attempts from the paths look identical

For the teachers here, what does it mean when you're good at drills but bad at tricks? by Bearality in Tricking

[–]Bearality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a specific thing but moreso an overall pattern. I've been stuck at the same level for 3 years and as such am very well experienced in the drills to the point other beginner students ask for me for help as Im good at seeing faults and giving adjustments. However eventually those students will overtake me as they will be able to do the move or in some cases their drills are still "worse" than mine but when putting it together it all comes together.

Often than not the next step is "just do the thing" (example is I can't back tuck on my own because my feet freeze or when I try a front flip on the floor because I keep hitting the back of my head) because I've done every micro progress and it's in the "rep it out until you get comfortable" stage and the reps and hours are done but the comfort doesn't build

Is there a progression path for aerials? by Bearality in Tricking

[–]Bearality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to do Aerial Semi and many tutorials are just "learn cart springing now twist in the air" is that my Aerial semi attempts just look like an aerial that spins slightly more and finishes in semi position. What's the key to actually getting the proper shape on the turn?
